rusty - Clarkson's contract
2017-18: $11,562,500
2018-19: $12,500,000
2019-20: $13,437,500
The Lakers REALLY wanted to move that contract. Clarkson is a nice player but to me Nance is the piece that entices the Cavs to take that contract and fork over a 1st. Nance is a perfect piece in Cleveland - not to mention of course his ties (dad) to the Cavs.

Well I obviously love this trade. We have gotten younger, quicker, more athletic, and better defensively. And we needed all of that.
Holy shit, we just acquired Rod Hood and George Hill too!
3 team trade, we give up Shumpert, Rose and Crowder.
Crowder wasn't fitting in with us either.
I am loving both these deals.

We are sending D Wade back to Miami too.
Trades keep rolling in.
Can I get a bad ass rim protector too? Is that too much to ask?
Nice that we were able to make a nice move to get Wade back home since there was no spot for him now.

Agree so far HB!! Be sure to notice that Clarkson, Nance and now Hood (restricted FA) are all very young.
George Hill not so much of course but excellent defending PG
So great job helping for this year but with the young guys you are covered if Lebron leaves.

And I think Nance may serve as the rim protector - sorta like TT is. Athletic and long and at this point more athletic than TT

Team is going all in, why stop now. Offer up that Brooklyn pick and TT and get a bad ass big man and let's take our chances next few years.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Rodney Hood and George Hill in a three-way deal with the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings, league sources told ESPN on Thursday.
The Cavaliers will send Iman Shumpert and a 2020 second-round pick via the Miami Heat to the Kings in the deal.
Sacramento acquires Joe Johnson from Utah, who gets Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose from Cleveland, sources said.
it was part of a flurry of deals prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline by the Cavaliers, who also traded Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye to the Lakers for Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.
Cleveland also shipped Dwyane Wade to the Miami Heat, sources told ESPN.
Hill, whose ability to guard both positions in the backcourt could help the struggling Cavaliers' defense, had been unhappy with his role with the Kings, whom he signed with last summer after turning down a more lucrative extension offer with the Jazz.
Hill's contract calls for $19 million guaranteed in the 2018-19 season, league sources said. Only $1 million of the $18 million on his 2019-20 contract is guaranteed.

Good one! I know who JD is. The only other name I'm familiar with is Larry Nance but I have a feeling that this is not the Larry Nance I remember.
When the deadline passes, I'll check out our new roster and try to get some familiarity with the new team.
But if Thomas and Rose and Wade and Shumpert are all gone, does this mean Calderon is our point guard? I suppose some of these names I don't know play the point, too.

Cavaliers deal guard Dwyane Wade back to Heat
1:18 PM ET
Adrian Wojnarowski

Dwyane Wade has said that he would like to end his career where he started it, with the Miami Heat. He will get his chance.
In a massive team makeover, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Wade to the Heat before Thursday's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, sources said. The Cavaliers get a heavily protected second-round pick in the deal.
Wade signed with the Cavs in September after working out a buyout with the Chicago Bulls. He spent last season with Chicago after 13 seasons and three championships with Miami.
Wade was averaging a career-low 11.2 points per game this season, coming off the bench in 43 of 46 contests.
The Cavaliers also traded Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, Derrick Rose, Jae Crowder and Iman Shumpert for Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance, George Hill and Rodney Hood in two other trades on Thursday.

Tom Withers @twithersAP
Asked one of the #Cavs how much DeAndre Jordan could help right now and he said “Montell Jordan could help us right now.”

HB - DeAndre is a FA this summer so that is really, really tricky.
If he would sign an extension now, yes I trade the pick for him. If not, then no. And I doubt he will because Lebron is so dicey to stay (another reason keeping Lebron continues to hamper the post-Lebron era)
I don't agree they are ALL in - everyone they have gotten (except Hill) serves the double purpose of being very young and able to be kept.
Love DeAndre a ton and he's the perfect guy. But for 2 months of him? Can't do it.

They won 21, 24, and 33 games in the 3 seasons with Kyrie and without LeBron. They never won a single game that LeBron sat out last year.
Yes, he's 33, but still in great shape and still one of the leagues best players. They should be adding pieces to keep him happy and keep him in town.
I'm not ready to give up on this year either. I'd be trying to trade IT plus and TT plus for a better defending PG and C and take our chances in the playoffs again. And hope it's enough to get LBJ to stick around.
Don't forget, in an interview last year he said he wanted to finish his career in Cleveland. I cannot understand why we want to run him out of town. I know he's a pain in the ass. But he's a pain in the ass that pretty much guarantees you a trip to the Finals every year in the East.
He is leaving ! They have known he was leaving for a year now ! No one is running him out of town... He is running like the immature brat he is. As usual Gilbert steps up to the plate. Just remember when he leaves that they knew. They are not making these trades to keep him.
LeBron has been loafing for over a month. Gilbert just cleared the spot for Lebron on the Lakers.
You must enjoy watching someone quit on his team.
