I'll have to take a look but our starting pitchers may be at the very bottom of the AL in ERA. Rated as perhaps the best in the league coming to the season they have been individually and collectively a disaster. Kluber's problems were probably due to his back and we can hope he won't miss too many more starts. Carrasco has been excellent except the last start when he was hurt but we think he's not missing a start, just being delayed. Salazar has not pitched well since June 2016. Bauer is "great" when he gives up only 3 runs in 6 innings. Tomlin is a number 5 starter who is sometimes good sometimes awful. And that's the "best starting pitching in the AL"

Clevinger as the backup has inconsistent command. The rest of the AAA "depth" has been erratic.

Not looking good, I'm afraid.

Encarnacion's statistical highlights for 2017:

Vs LH pitchers he has ONE rbi in 58 plate appearances. The only thing he does well against lefties is walk, 13 times.

with RISP he has two singles and two homers in 44 appearances, also nine walks, not including today's fine effort.

with a 3-2 count, he has 3 singles in 22 at bats and a whole pile of walks, 15 of them.

only up 4 times before today with the bases loaded and he's hitless
