I know they'd like to save the pen today, but Tomlin is about done now.

By the way, in our huge 3rd inning, Encarnación struck out twice.

Didn't last long, though, as we add two more runs

Daniel Norris, LHP

Norris overcame command woes to toss six scoreless innings against the Indians on April 14 despite four walks. He’s 2-0 with a 1.69 ERA in four career starts against Cleveland, with 15 strikeouts and no home runs allowed.

Sure doesn't look like we went to school on this guy. He's got that Andrew Miller, low and in pitch to the righty's going again tonight. Don't like what I'm seeing so far.

Well! I'm calling this one. No way, in my opinion are we going to score five or more runs against Collins.

Well, Collins is in center field tonight. And Norris looks like he is struggling.

The rest of this series looks like fun !

PROBABLES

<

Cleveland on April 16, the second-year lefty, Matthew Boyd, allowed just one run on seven hits and two walks in six innings to earn the win.

Anyone think we'll hammer Verlander again?

We missed Fullmer in Cleveland. He has five quality starts in as many outings this year.

I heard that Detroit just promoted a left handed starter from Toledo. They're going to stick him in the bullpen.

Anyone here think that Detroit might be looking for a sweep?

Say it ain't so !

I HATE THE F'N SHIFT FOR SO MANY REASONS BUT HERE ARE TWO

I was flipping between 5 or 6 games tonight and saw a highlight of Victor Martinez beating the the shift with a bunt down the third base line. Jose was playing deep at the shortstop position. No outs! Bunt for a hit (funny thing when I went back and saw the replay, Manning was joking about how he'd take that from Victor all day. He can't run. He clogs the bases). Upton doubles Victor to third. Both score on a base hit by Aviles. It was still a relatively close ball game at 5-1. That made it 7-1 and definitely put the game out of reach. I hate to say, but that was priceless. I fast forward and this time Victor beats the shift with a legitimate base hit right through the hole that Ramirez just vacated. funny thing, the pitch was on the out half of the plate. Why would you pitch to the outer half of the plate with the shift on in the opposite direction ????

Fast forward to the ninth inning. Jackson legs out a hit to short. He's safe at first but comes out of the game due to a leg injury. Almonte pinch runs, moves into second, trots into third because no one is near the bag. Easy run and base hit if Carlos lays one down. Maybe one run does not mean a lot in this situation, but why would Carlos be taking home run hacks for two runs with Lindor on deck? We had a bird in the hand and maybe two more in the bush.

I'm afraid that Detroit has our number right now. I'm guessing that at least 75% of our swings have home runs written all over them. We're playing right into their hands. If we are not careful, beware of a sweep.

I'm really disappointed in Ramirez right now. He's out of his element right now. What earned him his reputation last season was his ability to drive in runs with two outs. That was due to the fact that he made solid contact and was placing the ball to all fields. All of a sudden, he's starting to hack at the ball trying to drive every pitch out of the park.

This just does not look like the same team than played in the second half of last season.

If there were any positives that came out of this game tonight, it was EE's two base hits. On the other hand, he struck out on three pitches after those two hits, down by 6, he's trying drive the ball out of the park.

We remain one of the league's worst starting rotations and tonight will not help that statistic any.

I think Tito has to gather the troops before all the horses flee the barn.
