That shot they showed on the Santana shift was graphic. The third baseman was shaded up the middle. Third base was WIDE open. Even if the pitcher fields the ball, the third baseman never gets to third in time to get Santana. He showed bunt twice but the Tigers weren't biting. I doubt they get Santana at first. Fly ball out to right.

Have you ever seen any player hit the ball any harder than Jose has this season using the entire ball park? Don't forget, he's lost at least another five or six hits so far. More remarkably, he's doing it from both sides of the plate. Absolutely no way you can put any shifts on for Lindor or Ramirez.

Jose is doing it on both sides of the ball. I was worried the big extension was going to effect his play this season. I thought so after the slow start, mainly because the hits weren't falling. I thought he might be snake bitten. Glad we didn't trade him like some folks wanted to. I've been following Jose since he was playing winter ball at age 19 playing against players much more experienced and older. He showed even then that he was going to be a good hitter. There was never a doubt about his glove. Great job today!

It certainly appears that his 2014 Silver Slugger year was his career year. 15 was not good. 16 was terrible. 17 is staring out the same.

We have an excellent chance here to win the next four games in a row. I'm counting on it. Tomlin and Bauer are due for a couple of good games and Carrasco as well as Salazar have been pitching well. All four must keep their pitch counts within reason. If they can get through six innings with pitch counts under 100, you can put wins on the board.

Tomlin and Bauer aren't "due". They "do" need to pitch much better. No bad luck for them so far. With Mike Clevinger staring off very strong for Columbus one or the other could lose his spot.
