Guyer 2-3 today with double and homer. My boy Yandy, his chances of making roster out of camp has moved to slim, and Slim is on a horse riding out of town. He has to really dominate for Tito to choose him over a vet, instead it is Guyer stepping up. As he did last fall.

Diaz has zero chance to make the opening day roster baring a ton of injuries. He not on the 40 and the Tribe has no reason to use an option year if they don't have to.

If he starts tearing it up at Columbus or Akron, maybe.....maybe in June

Dylan Baker, Tim Cooney, Carlos Frias, Nick Goody, Hoby Milner ... Just some of the names on the 40 man roster.

First of all Yandy has already torn up both Akron and Columbus, hitting .315 in Akron 2 years ago and .325 in Columbus last year. He is 25 and has proven he is ready for a shot.

And secondly, there are a lot of names on the 40 I listed above that are of little to no use and nobody would care if we lost them to bring up a legit prospect, which Yandy is.

Some times, Seagull, I think you post just to be argumentative. Cause alot of it makes no sense.

Guyer is the only think standing in the way of Yandy to Cleveland. Or Brantley's health.

(I personally would have no problem trading Chisenhall and giving the RF job to Yandy, but knowing Tito I know that probably isn't realistic)

Speaking of Brantley, he took batting practice in back to back days for the first time this spring yesterday. Reports are that everything went great and the ball was coming off his bat "nicely".

Come on Hillbilly. You know roster decisions are influenced by money, options, arbitration and FA.

Guyer is signed for guaranteed money. Not much trade value. They won't eat that contract if they don't have to. They are not going to start Diaz's clocks ticking if they don't have to even, if he is 25.

Don't think there is much competition for 25 man roster spots outside of a bullpen job and the utility infield job.

Injuries are always a factor but Tribe is deeper than they have been in years.

Last time I looked, Coco Crisp was still looking for a job.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Tyler Naquin exits Sunday's game with bruised foot


CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Tyler Naquin exited Sunday's spring-training affair after he fouled a ball off his right foot.

The Indians announced that the outfielder suffered a bruise. The team will receive the results of his X-rays on Monday morning.

Cleveland topped San Diego, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon, as Trevor Bauer tossed three scoreless innings and prospect Bradley Zimmer socked another home run.

Naquin, 25, used a sizzling spring last year to earn an Opening Day roster spot. He finished third in the American League Rookie of the Year balloting, behind Tigers hurler Michael Fulmer and Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez. Naquin posted a .296/.372/.514 slash line with the Tribe, to go along with 14 home runs and 18 doubles.

The center fielder played sparingly against left-handed pitching and he struggled in August, September and October, but he figures to play a major role in an outfield shrouded in uncertainty. With Michael Brantley's status unclear, Naquin, Lonnie Chisenhall and Brandon Guyer appear to be in line for significant playing time. Abraham Almonte, Austin Jackson and Yandy Diaz could factor into the equation as well.


In his two at-bats on Sunday, Naquin produced a single and an RBI double. He left the game in the fifth inning.

Relievers Bryan Shaw and Cody Allen made their spring debuts on Sunday. Each logged a scoreless inning. Shaw yielded a pair of hits, but tallied three strikeouts. He leads the majors in appearances over the last four years.

There you go: one bruised foot in the door for yandy, maybe.

I don't see any chance they dump Guyer. He is a good platoon outfielder. Yandy's best chance is if Brantley is not ready. which is pretty likely.
I hope Gonzalez wins the utility IF job.
Armstrong is good hard-thrower with off and on command issues. I like him. But I like Clevinger more; I'd rather he not wait around in AAA for a starter to get hurt.

He has led the Indians system in stolen bases in each of the last two seasons, and his defense in center field separates him from other Indians outfield prospects. He’ll begin 2017 at Double-Akron.

Seems to me the Tribe sees....Austin Jackson = Rajai Davis. And can defensively roam CF.

I'd like to start getting a look at Jackson.

Jackson is supposed to be physically able to perform now or soon. With the long spring training he still has plenty of time to be ready for opening day. There is an OF spot to fill either by Brantley or Jackson or Diaz.

Jackson in his debut homers his 2nd time up. Tomlin in his spring debut has already pitched a typical quick 3 innings, scoreless. Kipnis in his spring debut has fanned twice.
