I didn't realize that Jon Lester has Knoblauch syndrome. He can't throw to first base.
Trying to hold runners on base.....he's only thrown to first 3 times in over a year. The second time he tried it this year, he threw the ball down the right field line.
He fielded a bunt between the third base line and the pitcher's mound tonight and sent a weak one-hopper to first. The batter was out.....barely. Lester stared into the Dodger dugout.
The Dodger hitters have been showing bunt trying to shake him up.
The base runners are taking 20 FOOT leads if you can believe that and he still won't throw to first. Rizzo plays about 3 feet off the bag while defending against a possible throw. The runners have huge leads but haven't tried to steal. The Dodgers trail by 2 runs but that shouldn't be an excuse for not running.
I gotta believe our base runners would be on the move......even Napoli.
Crazy!

I hope everyone got to see the play by Javier Baez tonight! Adrian Gonzalez dragged a bunt past Lester. Baez was playing about 12 feet in the grass with the shift on. Baez charged, fielded the ball about 10 feet on the dirt, and threw out Gonzalez at first. Instant replay confirmed the out. What a play!
I guess it's baseball etiquette not to pick on players that have weaknesses and Lester has a hard time fielding his position. The Dodgers have shown bunt many times tonight but refused to lay any down.
I remember the Indians didn't take advantage of a third baseman that had a bum leg in the playoffs and it cost us in one game. I can't remember which team it was, but I think it was the Orioles.

Javier Baez and Francisco Lindor both came to the USA from Puerto Rico to Florida when they were 12 years old.
It was the 2011 draft when Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez went eighth and ninth, respectively.
The two top shortstops in the 2011 draft class, Florida preps Francisco Lindor and Javier Baez, started their seasons playing against each other in front of more than 100 scouts, probably the most heavily-scouted high school game in the country that season.
The biggest difference between the two comes defensively, where Lindor is more polished and more likely to stay at short. Baez has shortstop tools but a bigger frame that may necessitate a move to third down the road. [ How about second base ?? - He has played third ]
I am looking forward to watching these two go head to head in the series. There's a good chance! The Cubs are winning big tonight in the 8th by a score of 8-2 heading back to Chicago for games Saturday and Sunday if necessary. I am just looking forward to watching all of these young stars face off against each other. Should be a lot of fun.

How often does someone have their two favorite teams compete in the world series in the same year
The Cubs have been my adopted team ever since the Ernie Banks era.

It would be easier if you just told us which team was not one of your favorite teams.....

Baez had to cover 55.7 feet to field Gonzalez's bunt, per Statcast™ -- the most covered by any Cubs infielder this season on a groundout, and the 15th-most by any Major League infielder.
[ I was close.....I thought it was about 24 Feet

Our pitchers will have their work cut out for them. There is not one easy out in that Cub lineup. Even the pitchers can hit.
Same Ol'e ! Same Ol'e ! We'll have to depend on our pitching and defense to guide our way through this storm.
This is a Cinderella story. Who would have thought that it would be the CUBS & INDIANS

Jon Lester / Javy Baez win the series co-MVP award.
Very easily could have been Fancisco Lindor / Andrew Miller co-MVPS.
Two amazing young players both playing like Hall of Famers.
Cubs looking like a dynasty in the making.
Can't wait till Tuesday!
