Red Sox likely to face Tribe in ALDS

Boston two games back of Texas for home-field advantage

NEW YORK --

After losing, 5-1, and being swept by the Yankees on Thursday night, it is now likely that the American League East champion Red Sox will face the AL Central champion Indians in the AL Division Series, which starts on Oct. 6 on TBS. To face another opponent besides Cleveland, the Red Sox would have to sweep the Blue Jays at home this weekend and the Rangers would have to be swept in Texas by the last-place Tampa Bay Rays.

And now back to present day Indians Game time.

Lindor seems to be out of his slump with a double and a homer today. Dude's smile was 15 miles wide.

If we dis-regard Almonte, the production from our outfielders could be a major problem. It's definitely a weak link. We could have the weakest of all the playoff bound teams.

The last 30 games:

Code: Select all

PLAYER AVE SO BB HR RBI
NAQUIN: .250 30 13 1 11
CHISENHALL ,275 17 4 1 11
DAVIS ,207 18 2 1 7

Red Sox rally, including a homer by Big Papi, makes it 5-3 in the 7th

Santana is a homer shy of the cycle.

I won't get into our catching problems offensively speaking, that is.

I see where Gomes is on in relief and getting some defensive work tonight. Gomes could be just what the catching doctors ordered. We'll need as much offensive help as we can get. I don't think it can possibly get any worse.

I'm really concerned for those last four spots in the lineup.

Great to see Gomes back in the saddle again. He was moving around pretty good. Now! If the offense can play up to the defense, what a great boost that would be.

Loved seeing Meritt get his shot and come through. I do think starting him would have been better than Mcallister or Anderson. Anyway another lefty who pitches instead of throws.

I would start him over Clevinger too. I said that earlier this season. As I said at the time, I like Clevinger's prospects more long term but just feel Merritt is more ready now.
