Detroit heading to a double header sweep tonight. Looks like the magic number will remain at 4.

Weekend series: Royal @ Tigers & Chisox @ Indians.

Monday, Indians at the Tigers for 4.

I'd like to clinch against the Tigers in Detroit, but I'm looking forward to the clincher coming at home. Should be all over but the shouting on Sunday.

CLEVELAND --

The Indians are still jockeying for position in the October picture, but there is another battle going on within the team. With his latest homer in a 5-2 win over the Royals on Thursday, Carlos Santana not only moved Cleveland a little closer to a division crown, but he put the pressure on Mike Napoli for the Tribe's home run title this season. Santana and Napoli are now tied at 34 shots apiece with 10 games left on the schedule.

Santana and Napoli are the first Indians teammates to boast at least 34 homers apiece in the same season since 2001, when Juan Gonzalez and Jim Thome achieved the feat. It has only been accomplished four times in franchise history. Thome was also part of the other two occurrences, alongside Manny Ramirez in 2000 and Albert Belle in 1999.

Baron - i love your "Keep Calm and trust Tito" post!

Sums it all up. He gets it, and for the most part, I don't. Certainly not on his level.

But he's proven over and over, he is one of the top 3 managers in the game.

(By the way, his continued use of Shaw is a good example. He knows what he is doing...observe...)

The Shaw Firm: Shaw continues to be an incredibly valuable piece for Tribe manager Terry Francona.

Shaw's appearance was his 73rd of the season and 297th since the beginning of 2013. The latter leads MLB.

In three appearances this season, Shaw has given up a combined 13 earned runs in two innings. In the other 70, Shaw has given up nine earned runs in 63 innings.

Shaw's ERA in those 70 is a tidy 1.29.

So in 70 of those appearances (out of 73) he's gone 1.29. That's insanely valuable.

Yeah....I know....but he had a rocky stretch for a week or so where it seemed every other time he came in, he gave up the lead or tie.

I haven't got over it yet, my wife calls it my post traumatic shaw disorder.

So in 70 of those appearances (out of 73) he's gone 1.29. That's insanely valuable.

Why worry about magic numbers when we can just get the best record in the AL and call it a day.

Bauer is doing great tonight, and the offense is in high gear!
