Scary Twins bullpen is so far so good, but need to get 6 more outs and allow no more than 2 runs. That may be asking for more than we could expect.

Clevinger did OK. Too bad he'd been backed out to the bullpen so he's had to work on short pitch counts. He is a good pitcher.
Shawn Armstrong who's in now is not particularly. Terrible command. I'm surprised Francona is making so much use of the Clippers bullpen. At least I'm sure Austin Adams will not be out there unless we're up or down by a half dozen or are in the 18th inning.

Tigers 3 outs away from cutting the magic number to Ted Uhlander, if I remember correctly. [yep, in 1971. see:

Santana has let Shields get off the hook a couple days. Still even through 5 so will be a battle of bullpen.s

I tend to overlook Naquin's proclivity to strike out until I look at his stats. He's 2 Ks in 2 ABs today. And that means in his last 78 AB he has 17 hits and a rather startling 34 strikeouts. I guess Zimmer has a chance to dislodge him from the Left handed part of a CF platoon.

and Naquin just drew a walk so we like the Sox in the top of the inning have 2 on and 2 out. Almonte will bat. Pitching change?

nope Shields stays on. He's certainly been much more effective today than recent outings

Too bad they didn't let Yandy Diaz do a September tryout for the playoff roster in Almonte's spot.

Rare home loss for the Tigers. They're saving up their strength for this weekend, I guess.

kipnis likes to hit in his hometown. He's up now with a man on first, 2 out in the 7th and the score still 1-1

Once again, there's no remote reason to be pessimistic at this point. Detroit has games to play, just like us. And their rotation sucks.
