Where was our closer tonight, Cody Allen. Don't think he's in the deal for Crisp, do you?

No way we trade a valuable relief man for an over-the-hill outfielder!

Magic number is 27 now.

I'd be surprised if Crisp costs us more than cash; or at most a low level minor leaguer.

Allen will be available today since half the bullpen was burnt up by Tomlin's early exit.

I was surprised that Clevinger was not used as a long man after Tomlin's exit. Would have put him in Tomlin's slot for next start, and let Tomlin be long man.

Tomlin needs a rest. Go to a six man rotation. They'll be playing teams with expanded rosters that are more interested in players evaluation than wins and losses.

6 man rotation means Tomlin's part of it. 5 man rotation with Clevinger in his place is where I'd go. If I needed a 6th starter at some point I'd shove Morimando out there.

UPDATE: (11:36 AM EDT, Wednesday): The deal has been announced by both clubs. The A’s will be receiving left-handed pitcher Colt Hynes. Hynes is 31. He’s pitched seven games in the big leagues and has spent ten years in the minors with a 3.62 ERA in 456 games, almost all in relief.

Hynes is just about the most insignificant player in our entire farm system. He was Cleveland in ST a year or two ago. An annual minor league free agent, he bounces around from team to team. Indians signed him a couple weeks ago when there was some thinning of minor league pitching depth. He got in 10 innings of work with Akron and Columbus. His major league career consists of 20 innings with an 8.55 ERA

Not quite the same as trading our closer!

Tigers come from behind and win with a walkoff sac fly in the 9th, to complete their sweep of the CWS. I blame JOE Z.

I blame the whitesox for being a really lousy team.

It's still early but so far through 2 this is about as nasty as I've seen Kluber this year.

And, of course, I jinxed him. Gives up solo shot in 3rd. One of these days I'll learn to keep my mouth shut.

Nice to finally have a game to watch where we can relax!
