Twins had allowed 8 runs or more in 6 straight games.
Twins' starter had an ERA of 10.80 in four games since they got him in a trade.

Well, we won; that's what counts. Bauer and Miller and Shaw were first rate. Allen got into trouble. McAllister took 7 pitches but rescued us before the offensive "explosion"

If the Indians are to keep it rolling down the stretch in their bid to win their first American League Central title since 2007, they're going to need some help from the back of the rotation, especially from right-hander Josh Tomlin.
Tomlin has struggled lately after a strong start to the year, but he will look to turn it around against the scuffling Twins, who will turn to lefty Andrew Albers in his first Major League start since 2013. Tomlin, 11-3 with a 3.43 ERA heading into August, is 0-5 with a 10.80 ERA over his past five starts, but Cleveland plans to stick with him

Good Luck on this one. Mike Clevinger will be up and throwing from the start, I'd expect.

If Francona has a weakness, it is sticking with players too long out of loyalty.

Tomlin gives up lead off homer to Dozier. Double to Mauer and single to Sano. 2-0 already.

J.R. and Civ both prophetic with their last two posts. Tito sticks with vets too long. And he should have had Clevinger warming up early.

Almost exactly the same stats for the guy the Twins started yesterday who shut us down.
Tomlin can work on his slow ball in the bullpen and pitch long relief. That's enough of him while every game counts.

4 hits and 2 more runs in 2nd, and still only 2 outs. Finally taking him out. Armstrong is on.

I was just going to post how much better Tomlin was in the second; he didn't allow even a single homer. He hadn't worked this many innings in a season since 2011. Every reason to assume that he's totally out of gas. We can welcome back in Spring Training and perhaps get another 1/2 or 2/3 season out of him in 2017.

Otero comes in with bases loaded and 1 out. Line drive hit right back at him that he somehow manages to snare, and double runner off at 2nd!

I'd rather be lucky than good any day.

I don't think I can remember the last time we had a mid season pick up that has had as much of an impact as Miller has. Dude is just a beast.

I don't think he tagged almonte, hell of an at bat by Davis. Up to Kipniss.

To steal a line from

BALLGAME!!!!!
His name is Tom Hamilton.
I know, I stopped typing mid sentence when he hit the ball. Though I was watching the TV not the listening to the radio broadcast.

And that's two. Nice to know that we can hold a lead for a while. Even Shaw looked good for his inning tonight.
