Technically players can't receive bonuses based on performance but they can have appearance type bonuses built into their contracts such as plate appearances, starts or ninth inning appearances.
Demotion to the 8th inning might cost Allen a few bucks.

What is so impressive about Miller, compared to Allen and most closers, is how efficient he is. Even for his 2 innings he threw fewer than 20 pitches.

Looking like it's gonna be an early night for Salazar. 10 pitches and down 3-0

According to Statcast™, Ramirez's homer ... went an estimated 401 feet with an exit velocity of 104 mph.
And they tell me Billy Hamilton reached 22 mph. Seriously, who gives a crap about these stupid stats? Is baseball not already a beautiful game without them?

Team took this series for granted and after beating Toronto we were looking forward to Texas.

Traveling across country on no days rest can't help.
Neither can batting Michael Martinez and our catchers back to back. Plenty of NL pitchers I'd rather have hitting 8th and 9th.

See the Francona comments that suggest Salazar is not working hard enough, same as in Spring 2015 when he was sent to Columbus as punishment?. I'll copy the article.

Since we only score one run a game now, we are screwed.

Sitting on porch of a cabin in middle of nowhere Montana watching Tribe on a tablet. I do love the 21st century!
