I seem to remember the big, bad World Champion Cavs getting beat by total doormat New Jersey this season.
Stuff happens, you turn the page and move on.
End of an incredible run, on the road no less. I expect they hit the wall somewhat. That's sports.

Or we could blame it on the Almonte jinx.

Almonte won't finish the season with the Tribe. If he had any trade value, he'd be gone in a heartbeat.
Look for a DFA sooner rather than later.

Like they did Gorzellany and Chamberlain today.

Thought Joba was pitching pretty good. Must have been something in his contract.

This franchise can't catch a break.
Come home to a waiting crowd and of course a freak rain messes with it.

If he fans 3 times a night but knocks in key runs, and plays a good 1b, I'm fine with him.
I wish Gomes would do as much. Everytime he seems to getting out of the rut he falls back in. Since he never walks his offensive performance is really pitiful. Last year he was getting over an injury. This season there's no obvious explanation for his collapse.

Joba's command inconsistency hurt, but I think the moves were partly just to get some bullpen-ers on the roster who have remaining waiver options so demotions and promotions can be made more easily. At present the pitchers on the 40 man roster who are not with the big club or on the DL are righties Austin Adams, Shawn Armstrong, Joe Colon and lefties Morimando and Crockett.

With so many teams needing bullpen help, you'd think Joba won't make it thru waivers. Maybe they'll be multiple claims and the Tribe can work a trade.

Don't get to see many games on TV but got to watch last night's game on ESPN. My first impression was the confidence they play with. That comes from not having to rely on one or two players to carry the team. Multiple players are contributing.
Pitching is awesome.
Detroit Pussycats looked beaten all night.

LOL
HB.
Tell you what though, the guy can really pick it around 1B, and that's something we never have.
I think ideally he is the 1B, and you have a DH that's MORE than Santana. But hey, it's all working.
In reference to
seagull's comment about their confidence, I personally think it's two things:
1. The starting pitching. OK, last night you have Salazar going, against Norris. Mismatch. And tonight, you have Carrasco going against a continually sucking Anibel Sanchez (by the way who is paid FARRR more than Carrasco). Without jinxing them, this is another SP mismatch.
2. Team "chemistry" - To me it's a combination of things. Kipnis maturing. Lindor maturing. Even Chisenhall maturing. Of course Bauer maturing (and certainly could add Salazar). These are young guys hitting their prime years. (Not Lindor, he's a freak) And I personally don't think it's a coincidence that the veteran RH bats (ok, Uribe excluded) arrived as these guys were maturing and have helped point the way. Can't forget Tito either, EVER!
You have to call this smart management which has opened the beginning of a new window of opportunity for this franchise. Young guys maturing (and signed reasonably) with older playoff tested vets adding swagger.

The thing is, the Tigers really aren't pussy cats. They are a good team.
Despite the fact they are 0-10 against us, they are still 5 games over .500. Which means they are 15 games over 500 against everybody else.
And in their 10 losses against us, we have outscored them by an amazing 42 runs. Yet on the season their run differential is +11. Which means they have outscored everyone else by 53.
Crazy how we really have their number this year.

Lots of closeups of Tiger faces. They looked like they were being totally dominated and couldn't do anything about it.
