Baseball needs to come up with another way to break ties after 10 innings or so.

Maybe just let there be ties--say, if it's tied at the end of the 12th, then it's just a tie. How bad would this be, really?

The players wouldn't, and shouldn't, like this kind of idea, though.

Could use the college softball rules where they start the extra innings with a runner on second base.

Maybe each team could get an extra out for every inning past 10. Or they could give them 4 outs in the 10th and 11th, 5 outs in the 12th, 6 outs in the 13th...

Really? We can not get the leagues to agree on the DH.

Here's another possibility. You can decide what to do about a 0-0 score after the end of nine full frames, but that is the only way there could be extra innings: The first run scored counts one point, no matter which team scores it; and every run scored after that, by either team, counts two points.

Change from runs to points? I don't think that would ever fly! Of course, SEAGULL's and my ideas probably wouldn't either, but they don't seem as much of a change. I think adding outs is a better way than putting someone on base who didn't do anything to get there.

It would never fly. But the problem isn't the "points" because that could easily be finessed. Just invent a new name for the first run scored, and it becomes the tiebreaker ... Yeah, call it the "tiebreaker." The rest of the runs count as runs.

But it would never fly. I guess penalty shootouts are the way to go. ... But do them first, before the regular game is played!

I don't know how you apply "penalty shootouts" to baseball?

As for today's game, Kluber wasn't sharp again today, and the Indians only scored one run for him.

The softball rule is tried and tested. Hell, they are going to softball rules already for home plate collisions and second base slides! Yes, those are softball rules now.

So, you put a runner on 2B to start the inning. Called a tiebreaker rule.

That's as close to a shootout as you could get.

Another poor offensive and pitching performance from the Indians today. We should be able to do better v. the Twins!

Twinks are 10-26 so far this season with 9 and 8 game losing streaks.......4-2 against the Tribe.

Is the Uribe experiment over yet?

Tribe puts up a 15 spot tonight. Is it still Spring Training?

Well, it isn't spring training for Cody Anderson, who looked GOOD in spring training.

I don't know who would take his spot, but his spot needs to be taken.

I personally wouldn't mind seeing Merritt or Clevinger either one getting a small taste of the bigs while Cookie recovers. Merritt is more ready. Merritt got 5 starts in AAA last year too.

Ryan Merritt 3-3 2.60 7 GS 1CG 1 ShO 45.0 IP 40 H 7 BB 33 K 1.04 WHIP

Mike Clevinger 5-0 3.03 ERA 7 GS 1 CG 0 ShO 35.2 IP 28 IP 17 BB 36 K 1.26 WHIP
