Hey, Joez, unfortunately you were right on Laporta. His swing has many holes.

I think LaPorta should try working with a heavier bat.

Actually I think that would help a lot of guys.

Unfortunately ND. This was LaPorta's big year to shine.

This was a bad time to pull out a rookie to pitch in a must win situation. A momentum buster if I ever saw one. Three times we got innings from Jimenez, Carmona, and Masterson to save some wear and tear on the pen. Unfortunately today was not one of them.

DH requires extra pitcher so Zach was the only choice. Seattle rookie didn't do so bad

Alex White - S - Rockies

Alex White had a Rockies debut to forget on Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits in six innings of Colorado's 8-6 win over the Astros.
White struck out four and walked one in his first taste of Denver's thin air. A first round draft pick of the Indians just two years ago, White is an exceptionally talented young pitcher. However, his keeper value has become murky after his move from Cleveland to Coors Field.

Apparently not, since we would have had dibs in that case. Oh well--not like we needed a righthanded-hitting outfielder or anything.

The Tigers have just eaten our lunch in midseason trades. Adding Betemit, Fister, and Young and subtracting nothing of present or future value is the way you do it.

Nice to see you back, Joe, though I have not been around much myself and probably won't be around much in the future now that it's pretty much garbage time.

Two random thoughts:

Alex White giving up 5 runs in 6 innings to the Astros is like giving up 74 runs in 2/3 of an inning to the Red Sox. For all the wailing in prospect-fetishist Tribe fan circles right now, so far all we've traded is potential.

If both the Tigers and the Indians had won half their one-run games over the last six weeks, this race would look a whole lot different right now.

Some may blame Joe, but it started when Kipnis got hurt.

Happy birthday, TFinSC!

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, there is a "high expectation" among baseball executives that Jason Kubel will be claimed by the White Sox, Indians, Rangers or Yankees.
The Twins placed Kubel on waivers earlier this week. Of course, just because he is claimed doesn't mean a deal will actually happen. For what it's worth, the 29-year-old currently projects as a Type B free agent this winter.

He;'s yet another lefthanded hitter. Aren't there any RH bats left in baseball?
