Joe, the birds will eventually come to the Trumpet Vine. Those trumpets were made for the hummers. I did get your mail and am sorry I did not reply. Sometimes I get bogged down with family stuff and I forget about email. I am just happy you are back!

Just noting our schedule from here out has just two off days. Thursday, August 25 and Monday, September 12.
Also we'll have the oddity of booking four games in less than 48 hours next week.
We have Seattle at 7PM on Monday.
Then we have a Seattle double header on Tuesday.
And the four game series finale on Wednesday, first pitch 12:05 PM. If that's a game of three hours or less, it will have been 4 games in 44 hours.

Jason Kipnis*, Cle 2B
Cleveland Indians
Out: 15-day DL
Kipnis (oblique) has been placed on the 15-day DL, the Indians' official Twitter feed reports.
Luis Valbuena has been recalled to replace him, while Kipnis' absence for the last week opens up the possibility of a retroactive DL stint and a return as early as next weekend depending on his progress.

Glad to see you Joe. Missed you.
I'm not excited about seeing Valbuena here again.

Husker!
I wasn't real excited about Valbuena either.
Truth! We're going down to wire in this race and anyone that can hit a lick, I want him here. Valbuena is an average defender at best. He's got a nice stroke and if he can make any kind of decent contact at all, he will be a big help to the offense. I have a good feeling about Valbuena this time around.

The fact that Valbuena is up here again may suggest that the Indians do not rate Cord Phelps very highly.

Valbuena is up for one reason only. They hope he does well enough so that when he clears waivers, someone will bite on a trade.

I hope you are right Seagull. We could use some timely hits and some timely runs batted in from him.

Drew Pomeranz - S - Rockies
Rockies left-handed prospect Drew Pomeranz underwent an emergency appendectomy Saturday evening.
He's very likely out for the season.
Pomeranz, the prize acquired from the Indians in the Ubaldo Jimenez deal, would finish this season 4-3 with a 1.84 ERA over 19 starts covering 98 innings between High-A and Double-A.
The 2010 first-round pick has all the makings of a future ace but will probably have to wait until next season to continue his development.

Glad it's not an arm injury. He'll be back from this one and ready for AAA in 2012, and the Rockies probably at midseason.

I know a non Indian fan would think I was biased, but we have been getting screwed by the umpiring in the last 2 series. I can think of one close call that went our way and about 6 that didnt Home plate calls have been bad also, we took many questionable third strikes and, believe me, we can strike out on our own without help from the men in black.

Jim Thome, currently on waivers, only owed about $600,000 for the rest of this season, so a bunch of teams presumably could make claims.

Teams for which Thome might fit: Cleveland (Hafner injured), Angels, Texas, NYY, SF, ARIZ, MILW, ATL. So no, he won't get to the Phillies.

Here's another factor: How much does Thome want to play? If Hafner is hurt, Thome could be regular for CLE. For NL teams, just a pinch-hitter
