Seagull:

Have you seen our bullpen since the all star break?

When I get a headache I could wait 3 weeks to take an aspirin too, but I'd prefer to fix the issue when it pops up.

Eh, no need to argue with you. I'm sure the Indians powers that be will agree with you. I have zero confidence in Acta.

Indians not expecting Sizemore back soon

By TOM WITHERS, AP Sports Writer
.
CLEVELAND (AP)—Grady Sizemore’s(notes) return is more uncertain than ever.

The Cleveland Indians won’t have the injured center fielder back until at least September, and there are no guarantees he’ll be in their lineup again this season.

Manager Manny Acta said before Tuesday’s series opener against first-place Detroit that Sizemore, sidelined since July 18 with a bruised right knee and after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia, will definitely not be back this month. The Indians originally said Sizemore would be out 4 to 6 weeks, placing his return around Sept. 1. Acta would not give a possible date for the 28-year-old’s return.

“We never anticipated him coming back by the end of this month,” Acta said.

Sizemore has not resumed baseball activities. Acta said there’s a chance that by the end of the week he could be playing catch and taking swings.

A three-time All-Star, Sizemore’s career has been slowed by injuries the past few seasons. He played only 33 games last year before having microfracture surgery on his left knee. Sizemore worked his way back—ahead of schedule—and played well earlier this season before bruising his right knee sliding into second base on May 10. He then aggravated the knee while running out a double last month.

Sizemore had an operation to fix the hernia in Philadelphia on July 21.

Acta was asked if Sizemore could be a major contributor when he does come back.

“Who knows?” he said.

The Indians, who trail the Tigers by four games in the AL Central, are hoping to get outfielder Shin-Soo Choo(notes) back for the playoff chase. He’s been on the DL since June 25 with a broken left thumb. Choo began a rehab assignment on Monday at Lake County (A). Acta said the plan is for Choo to steadily work his way up the minor-league ladder for a week, facing better pitching along the way, before rejoining Cleveland.

And here I thought the reason they didn't address our lackluster offense was because they were expecting Grady and Choo back soon and expecting them to add some punch down the stretch.

Typical with this crew. Just typical.

Chen is 1st. Lee is 2nd. I think Chang is in the middle.

So in Taiwan his name would be Lee Chen Chang.

Gaylord has seen a nice rain delay as the 10PM hour looms and only two innings are in. Hope she's a night owl!

A serious error on the Indians part if that was their line of thinking, especially in the case of Sizemore.

The guy has been either injured and/or crap for the best part of 2 years.

Even if they had 2012 and beyond in mind Sizemore is not worth his $9 million option IMO.

Either decline it and sign him to a lesser deal or give him his walking papers.

I agree. Tribe will pick up his option and cross their fingers.

i think it depends on where Sizemore is in September. The Indians have to believe he will be healthy to start 2012 to pick up that option. And i think Huff is now pitching for Carmona's spot in the rotation. $15M is a LOT to play an injured OF and 5th starter....

If you listen to Antonetti talk then you would know Carmona and Sizemore are both locks for next year. Carmona is not a #5 starter. The whole idea of 2-5 starter is silly.

We left in the middle of the rain delay. The trip home was scary through the rain and lightning. They started playing again when we got home. Our seats were not great. We had a bunch of Tiger fans sitting in our area. I watched the game on tv till 1"30 and gave up to sleep. I did win free Pepsi for a year at the game!

Great win, but it was the LAST thing an overworked bullpen needed.

Kudos to Durbin though, he gave us 3 quality innings when Masterson had to go.
