Tribe loads the bases, but doesn't score. Boy, that never happens!

Now that the pressure is off, the team is playing better.

Well in theory they're still alive. Just win the final 3 and hope Oakland and KC and Seattle lose all the rest of theirs. No big deal.

Well, the season wasn't a total disaster. We broke the major league record for most strikeouts by the pitching staff this season with Cory leading the way.

It looks like Oakland will be a winner tonight. We've been eliminated. It's a miracle we were alive this long.

A tip of the cap to Jose Ramirez who came on to solidify our defense the last month and a half of the season. A nice recovery also from his earlier call up this season where he was batting in the low .100's ending the season with what looks like a .250 batting average. The little guy powered our way to victory this evening increasing Corey's chances for a Cy Young Award.
I don't know if I would be in such a hurry to trade Ramirez until we find out that Lindor can get the job done. Just my opinion.

How about trading Chiz for a right handed bat with power and putting Jose, (or joez) at 3rd?

Apparently unaware that the Indians are now out of contention, Tito still refuses to give any playing time to Aguillar or Walters. Giambi in the lineup.
Would hardly be surprised if the regulars are not playing with greatest excitement today. And it takes very little diminution of effort by this crowd to turn a weak lineup into a totally ineffective one. Throw in a couple errors, including
Chisenhall's 18th, and the Tribe trails 2-0 in the 9th.
1 earned run off Carrasco in his 7 2/3 innings with a ho hum standard 10 strikeouts.

Let's not think Chisenhall has established himself as one of the core going forward. His hitting for a couple months was terrific and pretty uninspiring since. And he still has not proven he's a major league average 3B. Those errors come in only 112 games, and match up unimpressively with the 8 double plays he's participated in. I am not familiar with the defensive rating systems but I know that this is mighty unimpressive: His "total zone fielding, runs above average is way below average -16 and his "runs saved above average" is -15. HIs 'range factor per game' is 2.1 compared to league average of 2.55. 176 assists.
Offense:
April OPS 901
May 1020
June 919
July 569
August 717
September 539

In his 119 games at 3rd in Akron and Columbus, Urshela made 9 errors. Involved in 22 double plays.
Range factor 2.27 is not much better. 204 assists.

Lineup Thoughts for the Finale of 2014:
* I assume Giambi will get the call to bring his career to a formal end.
* Brantley should get 1 AB to be honored by the fans for his 200 hits; to be replaced by
* Shuck who should then be DFA'd after the game.
* In case Francona remembers that they're around, it would be nice to let Aguillar play 1st and Walters somewhere on the field.
* I want Kipnis to have the opportunity to complete his perfectly RBI-free September. Which raises a moral dilemma. Is it right to let him sit so he's guaranteed to meet the mark; or is it more appropriate to give him some at bats? Since I don't think he's up to playing in the field, his only hitting option would come if Giambi is lifted after a token farewell appearance. What would the ethical manager do?
