Masterson has the 9th best ERA among starting pitchers in ALL of MLB.
His 4 HRs allowed is the LOWEST total in MLB.
Kid should be a Cy Young candidate instead of having a 8-7 record.

1457I have to believe the Indians are still trying hard to address that.husker wrote:I'm getting a little long in the tooth, so I feel like we need to go for it anytime we're close. Sure wish we had some bats.
Re: General Discussion
1458Love the Jimenez trade, just love it!!! It's all about starting pitching and the Indians just added a #1 starter for this season and two more. Look white is a big ????? and McBride and Gardner are complete stiffs. We got Jimenez a PROVEN #1 starter for a AA prospect. My gosh this is a STEAL!!!
Worst case Jimenz wins plenty of games, keeps us in the thick of things in the Central and we trade him for every bit as good a prospect as Pomeranz. Choo back in two weeks then Sizemore and we have as good a pitching staff as anyone in the AL.
Bring it on folks the Indians are back!!!

1459Carrasco appealing six-game suspension
By Jason Mastrodonato / MLB.com | 08/01/11 6:57 PM ET
BOSTON -- Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco has been suspended for six games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing near the head of Kansas City's Billy Butler in Friday's game against the Royals.
Carrasco is appealing the suspension and will make his regularly scheduled start on Wednesday in Boston.
"That's pretty standard for when something like that happens," said manager Manny Acta. "So he's appealing and he'll be able to pitch [in Boston], and we'll go from there."
After starting the year 8-4 with a 3.54 ERA, Carrasco has lost five straight, having allowed at least three earned runs in each start.

1460Jimenez offered to start the Tribe's series finale with the Red Sox on Thursday, but Acta thought it would be better to let Justin Masterson -- who has a 1.25 ERA over 21 2/3 career innings against Boston -- finish the series as scheduled. Jimenez will make his first start in an Indians uniform on Friday against the Rangers, an 8:05 p.m. ET game in Arlington.

Re: General Discussion
1461I love the jimenez trade as much as anyone else. But when we go 2 to 3 days without scoring a run or two. Which has happened more often than not....especially after we have a double digit scoring game....tells me that we need a little bit more than a stud pitcher. How many times this season has a great performance by the pitching staff been negated cause we can't score a frickin run when we need to.
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

1463In tonight's game, the ESPN announcers mentioned Asdrubal Cabrera in the same sentence as possible American League MVP.
Re: General Discussion
1464Certainly deserves it. Would be a shoo in if he played for the beloved Red Sox or Yankees.
Re: General Discussion
1465NESN's Heidi Watney(hot) interviewed AC after the game and called him the best shortstop in baseball (this year).
AC needs to work on his English. I'd probably have to hear the interview 5 or 6 times to understand a word he said.

Re: General Discussion
1467In fact it may have been even more about the next two seasons. I'm liking it even more now ... even if it doesn't pan out, it's a good kind of move. This trade was not just about the end of this season.

Tim Belcher on the trade.
Hilarious how the local media wants to be so negative about anything.
There has to be something wrong with Jimenez. Always look at the negative.

1469Tom Hamilton was on XM this morning.
He said the attitude in the Tribe clubhouse among the players is very positive about the TRADE. Huge psychological boost and players always favor moves to win now.
