1/2 season AL MVP cannot be anyone other than Ramirez leading the offense for the team with the best record in the AL Leads in RBI. Steals in double DIGITS. Ultimate hustle sets the standard for the surprise team.

But any chance among the experts? doubtful there's an update on mlb.com last week that generously listed him 5th. Aaron Judge of course is number one; he has many more homers and almost as many RBI. Soto is ranked no. 2 on the mlb.com list. Then o's Henderson and KC's Witt.

ESPB subscribers only can see their choice. Anyone here pay for the privilege?

Kwan's 1.7M votes got him 3rd place in the first round of All star voting.
Now it's between Soto, Kwan, Santander and Tucker. Orioles are big vote-winners but Kwan's got enough national publicity by now to have a solid shot at the starting role.

Jose led 3B votes by a ton; now one on one with the O's Jordan Westburg, who's a very good young hitter but whose credentials pale next to Ramirez'. And in this case Jose has the advantage of familiarity.

Voting for Round 2 is this Sunday through Wednesday only and only one vote per day per voter. I guess that means it will harder for a player to depend on home fans ballot box stuffing. So folks without a personal stake will decide the vote. Many will just not bother without their hometown players on the ballot. I wouldn't bother if our guys weren't in the running.

Just read an article about the "bad trade" of Cal Quatrill. Truth is that had he remained with the team Ben Lively might not be on the team. Love to have him back, but who could have seen the decimation that has hit the pitching staff.

This is a tough one. I can see both sides. FO says they needed his contract to acquire Barlow. Really ? Just do not sign Laureano ! FO says they had too many starters. Really ? They were betting on a few injured arms from last year !

The division-leading Milwaukee Brewers struck early to bolster an obvious need in their starting rotation, acquiring right-hander Aaron Civale from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday in exchange for minor-league infielder Gregory Barrios, a league source confirmed to The Athletic.

Interesting that some complain that we traded Quartill but no one has complained about Civale

The Guardians recalled Martinez from Triple-A Columbus, and he's starting in center field Thursday against the White Sox.

The 22-year-old was up with the big club for a couple days in June and saw action in two games, going 2-for-7 at the plate. Martinez started at third base and designated hitter during that stint but will receive a look in center field Thursday while batting second.

07/04/24 Cleveland Guardians optioned SS José Tena to Columbus Clippers.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians have acquired another pitcher to potentially provide depth to their starting rotation ahead of the Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Cleveland announced a trade with the San Francisco Giants, who begin a three-game weekend series Friday at Progressive Field, hours before the series opener between the two clubs. The Guardians get right-hander Spencer Howard in exchange for cash considerations, the club revealed.

In order to make room for Howard on the 40-man roster, right-hander Wes Parsons was designated for assignment.

Howard, 27, has five years of major league experience with a 4-12 record and a 6.93 ERA for his career. In 45 appearances, including 31 starts, Howard has 130 strikeouts. Howard previously played for Philadelphia and Texas before joining the Giants this season.

In seven appearances for San Francisco, Howard is 1-1 with a 5.63 ERA. He was designated for assignment by the Giants on June 30.

A native of San Luis Obispo, California, Howard was a second-round pick of the Phillies in 2017 out of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He was traded to the Rangers at the 2021 trade deadline and made the Giants as a non-roster invitee this spring.

Howard has held left-handed hitters to a .220 (11 for 50) batting average this year. According to the Guardians, he will report to the major league club in the coming days.

I’ve seen all I care to see of Gabrielle Arias. The sooner we can include administrate anywhere the happier I will be.
