Who among us would guess that the Tribe would be on this side of a Star for Top Prospects deal? Antonetti (obvioulsy not making these choices all by himself) is playing a very aggressive 2011. Don't see how it's going to make enought of a difference with a lineup that can score runs, but now that there's some suggestion the team will spend money (they were willing, too, to take on Beltran's contract) I'm going to hope the offseason plans are a free agent LF who can hit.

I can't figure out why this deal goes on to include more talent for the Rockies than No. 1 and No. 2 prospects. Gardner has had a difficult 2011 but is a talented pitcher; we need to give up three? young pitchers. And it seems kind of humorous that the trade goes on to throw in Matt McBride: although it does suggest that JoeZ has left Tribe Forum and taken a job in the Rockies front office.

My spidey sense tells me that perhaps both Carmona and Raffey could be gone by 4 pm today for a right handed bat.

Looking at the trades yesterday, we dealt from our strength. Sure, you can't have too much pitching, but it appears that we are fairly well stocked at Columbus. I think Jimenez is a replacement for Carmona, so good bye, good luck Fausto in the NL. Trading Raffey is selling high, something we do not always do. (actually, never do)

Infielders are also all over our organization. We have all been clamoring to get Donald up here to replace OCab. The fact that we got a right handed outfielder for AAA is an attempt to shore up future outfield needs.

Our most glaring need is to score runs, really (LOL) Any trade that brings back a contributing bat will be welcome.

Absolutely shocking that you disagree with the trade. Unbelievable. Posters have been bitching for years to go for it. The FO goes for it and Mr Mamby Pamby starts talking about Pedro and Wright. You probably started second guessing your original trade of your first pacifier for your "binky".

I'm not sure about this trade but my hat is off to a front office that has the balls to go for it.

Once again the Dolans prove that they are willing to go along with whatever their GM and FO decide to do.

Anything is possible. Let's get Ianetta and Ludwick and lets roll the dice.

I apologize to anyone who may have been annoyed with my excessive number of posts yesterday.

I got caught up in the moment by moment of the Tribe swinging for the fences(damn OBP!) on the trade market.

I had the different Twitter links open in their own windows and sat waiting for the writers to tweet their brains out like a hot pinball machine.

It was a blast, an engaging story from start to finish. One thing the internet does is allow you to experience many things in the moment from completely different perspectives. Fascinating and a time eater.

Anyway, I like the trade for Jimenez because the future is now.

Let's hope we're all around down the road to celebrate or bitch.

They got career years from Cody Ross and Aubrey Huff.

Of course, they had a healthy Posey.

They were a solid defensive team (maybe Cleveland can get there), just good enough to make the routine plays. But not many MLB clubs can pull that off over 162 games.

Loufla:

Don't forget Chen Lee too. He has been great between AA and AAA this year. Pluto mentioned him this morning.

Rocky:

I for one really appreciated your posts last night. I watched the Indians and the big MMA fights last night so you were keeping me up to date on what was going on. It is absolutely ridiculous that you knew more about what was happening than the Indians announcers. When Underwood finally did reveal that the Indians had traded for Jiminez do you know where he got the info? Off the Rockies web site. The organization left them in the dark all night and they had to get their info from another teams web site. Unfreakinbelievable.

Got to give Antonetti credit. He was willing to roll the dice and go for the big deal.

May regret putting Pomegranate in the deal.

Hope this isn't deja vu. Last time (2004) we got a pitcher named Jimenez, that previously pitched for Colorado, was the infamous Jose Jimenez who compiled a 1-7 record with an era of 8.42 before he was released.

Ditto to what Rusty said. The vast majority of us at this forum have been wanting to see the Tribe pull the trigger on this kind of trade at various times over the years.

For me the only thing that could dampen this is if Jiminez has a physical problem that the Rockies know about, and the Indians are unaware of. I would have to think and hope that this is not the case, as it would be highly unethical on the part of the Rockies to hide any serious physical problems. I also assume this is contingent on a thorough physical exam by Tribe doctors.

The Central Division is up for grabs. This team has performed far above expectations, and they have weathered a myriad of injuries. I trust that Antonelli knows the players better than any here who have been predicting an eminent demise of our playoff contention hopes.

This is the first time I an recall that the Indians have been deep enough in prospects to do this, and it's the first time I can recall seeing this team make such a trade for a young established stud pitcher.

Yes it is a roll of the dice, and it can go either way over the long haul. I like seeing the front office make moves to win NOW.

I hope it works.

Just came back from 10 days vacation without internet and mostly without news. Very interesting to read 20 pages of "General Discussion" at this time of year ...

"Fukudome to the Indians the dumbest trade idea ever"

"Pomeranz and White untouchable"

heh heh heh, it's usually an interesting time of the season.

Kudos to Tribe brass for will to make a trade like this for Jimenez. I, of course, have no idea whether it's a good one or not, so it probably is.

Belated Happy Birthdays to everyone who gained another year in the past two weeks.
