April 25: RHP James Karinchak (right shoulder fatigue) to travel with big league club
After spending the first month of the season in Arizona to continue his rehab, Karinchak joined the Guardians on Thursday and is expected to travel with the team to Atlanta and Houston to work with the big league training staff as he nears a rehab assignment.

April 21: RHP Gavin Williams scheduled to receive an anti-inflammatory injection in right elbow
After feeling discomfort in his right elbow again, Williams was scheduled to receive an injection on Wednesday. He'll be shut down for seven days, and the team is hoping he'll be able to pick up where he left off shortly after that.

10-DAY/15-DAY INJURED LIST

RHP Gavin Williams (right elbow discomfort)
Expected return: Early May
Williams made his three-inning start in Arizona to begin his rehab process, but he felt the same discomfort in his elbow after the outing that he did in Spring Training. He flew to Cleveland to meet with the medical staff and received external opinions. It was determined that receiving an anti-inflammatory injection on April 24 would be the best path forward. He'll be shut down for seven days with the hope that he will immediately be able to resume his throwing program without being set back too much.

This began in the middle of Spring Training when Williams made an awkward throw during his weighted-ball workout and felt discomfort in his throwing elbow. (Last updated: April 24)

LHP Sam Hentges (left middle finger swelling)
Expected return: Late April
Hentges was shut down for a few days in the middle of March to deal with swelling in his left middle finger. Before camp ended, he said he had resumed throwing, but there wasn't enough time left for him to be ready to go before Opening Day.

He began his rehab assignment on April 19 with Double-A Akron, tossing one scoreless inning with one strikeout on 14 pitches. He'll make his next appearance on April 23 in Akron. (Last updated: April 21)

RHP Eli Morgan (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return: May 2
Morgan was placed on the 15-day IL on April 17 due to right shoulder inflammation. He pitched in nine games, posting a 2.16 ERA over 8 1/3 innings, including two shutout innings in the Guardians’ 10-7, 11-inning victory on April 16. Manager Stephen Vogt said that with the workload Morgan has had, he didn’t feel like himself. (Last updated: April 17)

60-DAY IL

RHP James Karinchak (right shoulder fatigue)
Expected return: At least the end of May
Karinchak reported to camp with right shoulder fatigue. He was given the green light to begin a throwing program on March 11 and joined the big league team on April 25 to work with the Guardians' training staff. Assuming all goes well, his rehab assignment will be in the near future. Because he opened the year on the 60-day IL, he'll need to wait until at least the end of May before he can return to game action. (Last updated: April 25)

INF Angel Martínez (fractured hamate)
Expected return: Late May or June
Martinez was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 17 with a fractured hamate. On April 17, he submitted a surgical intervention with Dr. Thomas Graham at Lehigh Valley Health Network in Bethlehem, Pa. (Last updated: April 17)

RHP Shane Bieber (right elbow injury)
Expected return: 2025
Bieber was transferred to the 60-day IL on April 10, and there's no return in sight for Cleveland's ace. He wasn't bouncing back as well as he is used to after his Opening Day start and elbow pain persisted throughout his outing in Seattle.

Bieber underwent imaging that revealed the same problems with his UCL that he had last year. He underwent UCL surgery on April 12. He'll report to Goodyear, Ariz., to begin his rehab. (Last updated: April 13)

RHP Trevor Stephan (UCL surgery)
Expected return: 2025
When Stephan's elbow was examined for discomfort on Feb. 28, a deep bone bruise was discovered. But after it continued to nag him, other opinions were needed. It was determined that his UCL is not providing adequate stability, which caused even more pain in the elbow. He underwent surgery on March 27 and was given a 12 to 16 month timetable for recovery. Some thoughts on a Monday night:

Not exactly a story book debut to his major league career. Manzardo looked over-matched, at least on this day.

On another note, Johnathan Rodriguez's season-opening 24-game on-base streak ended a week ago. He's got another streak going. Six in a row. What's a guy gotta do to earn a promotion?

Not exactly a fan of Laureano.

Florial is not exactly embarrassing himself. He's getting closer to becoming a threat.

Johnathan Rodriquez a threat from the other side?

Food for Thought: Florial, Manzardo, Rodriguez at the bottom?

Could Jaison be better than Jackson?

My personal favs, Rocchio and Frias are struggling. Both not letting their offensive woes interfere with their defense.

Will Josie's bat flip hep relieve the frustration?

It's a Miracle: Winning with 9 of 13 starters hitting below .250; Six hitting .213 or less.

The glass is half full: It can't get any worse. Good day's are ahead? Look for more offensive production from the bottom.

Ben Lively has been a pleasant surprise.

McKensie, Allen, and Bibee doing the best to hold down the fort until Williams' return.

Except for a couple of hiccups by Gaddis, the bullpen has been outstanding.

The bullpen is leading the charge.

Despite the fast start, the Royals and Twins are only 2.5 back.

Twins 12 game winning streak came to an end yesterday 9-2 vs Red Sox.

Is the American League Central gaining some respect?

Tugboat! Right up there with Ears, No Neck Three Finger, Spaceman, The Bird, Catfish, Penguin, Oil Can, Cool Papa, Shoeless Joe, Crime Dog, Sandman, Turkey, Babe, Big Papi, Yogi, Satchel, Nuke Laloosh....

That Sucks! Kwan's MVP year derailed for a month. Can he pick up where he left off?

Well thought through thoughts!

Yes the ALCentral is not so absurdbly awful BUT if you subtract the games agains the absurdly awful White Sox records in the division are not all that great.

CLE 21-11 [2-1 vs chx]
MIN 13-14 [7-0 vs chx, including most of their12 game streak]
KC 15-14 [6-0 VS chx]
DET 15-16 [3-0 vs chx]

Note that the team's offense overall continues to rank among the best at the most important thing: scoring runs.
NUMBER TWO trailing only the impressive Orioles. In total runs and in runs per game: 4.8. That's better than the Yankees and Rangers and all the other supposedly superior offensive outfits.

As a longtime JRod fan I'm glad to see he's getting near a major league trial run. What I'm especially pleased to see this year is the vast improvement in walks vs striktouts

2019 Short season A: 21 vs 67
2021 Low A 16 vs 54
2021 High A 9 vs 22
2022 HIgh A 22 vs 92
2022 AA 5 vs 43 [!]
2023 AA 34 vs 97
2023 AAA 25 vs 66
2024 AAA 19 VS 34
Pitches per plate appearance are also at a career high
He's missing one attribute of a Guardians hitter: only 10 career sac flies, none this year

I expect the White Sox will improve soon. They were moving a lot of parts around. They found some pretty good pitchers. Never heard of any of them. Likewise with the position players. Who are those guys? The Sox also found a couple of pretty decent bats. Top 3 guys still on the DL.Sox are slowwwwly becoming competitive..
