Was watching the O's and one of the reasons Cruz chose Baltimore was the ballpark. He is on a one year deal, to put up numbers. Camden over Progressive every day of the week for that.

The Indians were never interested in Cruz.

1. They lose their #1 pick in the draft.
2. Too cheap to pay out the $8mil guaranteed.
3. PED Issue.

No teams were ever linked to Cruz. Baltimore made the only serious offer and Cruz jumped at the opportunity. Cruz said he was willing to sit out the first half of the season until teams needing players for a second half stretch run came along.

As has been the case with most if not all of the Cuban players, they followed the money.

Masterson with another sloppy pitch wasting start. He's held the Red Sox scoreless for 2 innings while throwing 49 pitches and walking and striking out 3 apiece. Maybe he was not so darned smart to reject the Indians contract offer. Anyone who looks at him this off season will know that he only pitches well in odd numbered years so can be certain he'll be an All Star in 2015 and in 2017. A contract offer of 3 years would be smart; only have to worry about one terrible year while under contract. Masterson will of course want 4 years and some team will overpay dramatically and give it to him.

What is it about a 100 pitch count anyway? Japanese pitchers go 120+ pitches often enough. I'd like to see some of these managers pull Bob Gibson out of a ballgame working on a shutout with just over a 100 pitch count. He may never manage again :P
