Been waiting for Manning to comment on Chisenhall and Santana at 3B.

His comment was "I like Chisenhall better defensively at 3B than Santana".

Chisenhall has to play 3B at this point regularly. Santana is raking at 1B/DH.

Case closed on this one.
Pretty small sample size, I would say!

But the Indians had a large enough database on Ubaldo to know that a long-term contract was too risky.

Kluber is clearly the Ace of this team now.

Masterson lost a few million by not signing this spring. Nice guy, but bad businessman.

Took Tito long enough to move Santana out of the 4 spot. How long before the 3rd base experiment is over?

Home runs can still be hit by guys with slow bats like Santana and Giambi. They just start their swing earlier and hope they guess right on the pitch.

That was a classic Ubaldo messup. Even entering the 5th, he'd thrown over 70 pitches in 4 shutout innings. By the time he left 5 batters later, his pitch count was 98 to register 12 outs. Kluber used 103 pitches for 21 outs.

Chisenhall with his daily error.

Ubaldo with a another stinko today. 5 walks and 99 pitches in 4 innings.

Nice move by the Tribe in letting him walk.

T J McFarlane former Tribe minor league reliever let in the second batch of 4 runs. He came in with an ERA of just about 3, O's pick him up as Rule 5 choice 2012 offseason when Indians chose to keep House on the 40-man roster instead. Probably not much difference between the two.

#Indians Lineup 5/26:
Bourn-CF
Cabrera-SS
Brantley-LF
Santana-DH
Raburn-RF
Swisher-1B
Gomes-C
Chisenhall-3B
Aviles-2B
Tomlin-RHP

This lineup could look pretty good when Kipnis comes back. With Chisenhall rocking like he is.

The daily error by Chisenhall didn't cause a problem Sunday; a DP erased the runner.

The daily error by Chisenhall today led to 3 unearned runs. His defensive play is unbelievably awful this season. He has a fielding average of about 833. He now has 8 errors to one dp. Bye contrast for all of 2013, 9 errors and 18 DP; 2012 6 E 7 DP; 2011 10E 8 DP.
Santana has more E in way more games and has only been involved in 3 double plays.
Picking a very average 3b baseman for contrast, in his 3 full season mostly as a 3B with the Tribe, Casey Blake's Es vs DPS:

14/24
14/25
12/15

Chisenhall has learned how to hit, even vs lefties. But he has unlearned 3rd and Carlos is only a bit better.

Lot of teams should be kicking themselves in the arse for not signing Nelson Cruz including the Indians. Just see where Cruz just knocked out his 17th homer, picked up his 47th rbi, and is hitting .296. We could use those numbers.

I don't think you had mentioned him before, have you Joe?

While every team in the league was in a holding pattern on Cruz this spring, I was on his bandwagon thinking he would provide some great protection for Santana. I was hoping for both Cruz AND Abreu. Alas! We got neither. We had Swisher, we didn't need Abreu. We had Bourn, we didn't need Cruz. Brantley could have been moved to center making room for Cruz. I guess we thought Murphy was the answer.

Once again, for the millionth time, free agents decide where they go. No matter how much you cry or whine like a 10 year old striking out in little league.

Abreu went to the team with the most fellow Cuban players. I'm sure if you check it out there are reasons why Cruz selected Baltimore.
