Just so happens that Trevor Bauer also is pitching tonight. In what I think is his worst game of the season, he's allowed 1 run in 6 innings as his ERA rises to 1.00; he allowed 5 hits, walked 2, fanned 2, and efficiently used 82 pitches in 6 innings.

No one else posted? Not much else positive happened. Salazar was gone as usual before the 5th ended. Bullpen was not so hot, Atchison particular with his first off night of the year. And the bats stayed quiet. Santana hitless once again, 2 striekouts, batting 134, maybe he doesn't need to stay at cleanup? He's only driven in runs two times this season and has one homer (which accounted for 2/3 of his 3 RBI)

I think it will be Bauer time soon!

Making that change would not be a sign of panic, or of giving up on Salazar. Most young pitchers, certainly including Bauer!, don't succeed on their first major league promotion. Masterson went in and out of bullpen and rotation with Red Sox before he came here. Kluber's debut was a dud. Danny can work on his pitch mix and refining his offspeed stuff in Columbus and return better than ever.

Agreed. And Tomlin for Carrasco?

I guess. Although I might give him a chance or two, yet, although I'm not sure why. Tomlin has been nothing special in Columbus, but that is Josh's game; nothing specially good or specially bad. He is an OK 5th starter. Carrasco has far more natural ability but repeated lack of success. I agree with Francona that we should not let him get away so I'd put in the bullpen as the 8th man. I would of course make room for the addition by demoting Johnson, which I have urged now for the last several moves we've made.

Noon game today The last I saw each team had 1 hit and no runs in four innings. Chen vs, Kluber. Santana falls before .140. If Elliot Johnson were actually still on the team I'm sure he'd be starting vs last night's or today's lefty. So although I don't recall seeing a notice that he was gone, that seems like confirmation to me.

A little more action in the 5th. With 2 out Kluber surrendered two hits, but Brantley nailed runner aiming for 3rd base.
bottom of the inning the Tribe was busy:
C Santana doubled to deep center. 0 0
M Brantley singled to center, C Santana scored. 0 1
R Raburn walked, M Brantley to second. 0 1
Y Gomes singled to left, M Brantley to third, R Raburn to second. 0 1
D Murphy singled to left, M Brantley and R Raburn scored, Y Gomes to second. 0 3
M Aviles sacrificed to pitcher, Y Gomes to third, D Murphy to second. 0 3
A Cabrera doubled to left, Y Gomes and D Murphy scored. 0 5
That was it for Chen. New guy wild pitched Asdrubal to 3rd, but Kipnis and Swisher fanned to leave him there.
Pretty nice inning regardless.

17 RBI for Murphy, 19 for Brantley. Cabrera season stats just about matching last years now:
2013 242/299/402/701
2014 241/318/380/698

Kluber with a very quick 1-2-3 6th inning. On track for a rare win by a Tribe starter.
Also a real shot for an even rarer complete game. He has thrown only 63 pitches in 6 innings.

Kluber completes a 101-pitch shouldabeena shutout. Only run came on a 2-base error on a ball off Swisher. In fact the Royals were zero for zero with RISP, since there were none. 4 singles, no walks, career high 11 strikeouts.
Bullpen with the day off. One inning of offense did it for the Tribe. Everyone contributed at least a little something, other than Swish who was 0-4, 3 strikeouts, and his 3rd error. Tribe needs to solidify the defense.
California here we come.
