Outman relieves Carrasco with one on and 2 out in the 6th. A single follows but no scoring.
Swisher with a hit to lead off the Tribe 6th. That's enough to trigger a pitching change and Loup in to face Kipnis. The goal is get Swish to 2nd so Santana can't end the inning with a DP before Brantley hits.

Nope, Kipnis hits in a force.
Tito will have to have Jason moving on every pitch to avoid the doubleplay. That will be tough with a lefty on the hill.
Loup with a pickoff try, and guess what, it works. No worry now about Santana's chance to make two outs in a single swing.

Santana walks so Brantley gets another shot. It would be easier to win if we could count on someone in the top half of the order to produce runs, too.

Brantley's hitting a good .288 but a ridiculous .394 with men on base. He gets behind 1-2 but fouls off a couple, works the count to full. And draws a walk.
Which is unlikely to help. Cabrera now bats, he's 2-18 with RISP so he's due.

Gets ahead in the count 3-0 and gets the green light: swinging strike one.

Takes strike two. The runners will be moving, a solid hit can score a pair and tie the game.

Runners go twice as Asdrubal fouls off a pair. He's working it this time.

And once again. That's 8 pitches. Hamilton must be calling this a "good at bat"

And he draws the walk to load them up for Murphy who's 3-16 vs lefties, but he's 6-12 with RISP.

and he clears the bases with a double and the Tribe back ahead 5-4. Except my wife advises me it's time for me to cook dinner, so I'll be away for awhile. Bullpen will get a chance to hold this one.
Strange team that all the scoring comes from the bottom half of the lineup. Maybe we should just move the top 3 down to the bottom; Santana walks a ton so we could be leadoff (means one time a game we know he won't hit into a DP. That's what they did with Hargrove back when he was Human Rain Delay.

Averages with bases empty vs. with men on base:
Swisher .216 .143
Kipnis .310 .161
Santana .133 .161
Cabrera .270 .148

Still here. Shaw sets them down in order in the 7th.

Tribe trying something different in the 7th: Chisenhall leads off with a walk and Bourn advances him to third with his 2nd hit of his brief season. Swisher Sac Fly gives the Tribe a 2-run margin.

After Kipnis lines out, Bourn with his 2nd steal but Santana fans. 2 innings to go, 2 runs up.

Allen in for the 8th. Walks the leadoff man, but then disdains his strikeouts and efficiently retired 3 on 5 pitches.
