Well Rosario probably got off that list with 4 hits including a triple. He tends to start slowly and then pick it uo
Giminez one recalls didn't hit very well in 2021, great in 2022, and is this a return to his norm?
Naylor was supposed to be ready for a breakout from decent to very good. Hardly.

after brother Bo hit 2 homers yesterday for Columbus,
He is now "leading all Triple-A catchers in home runs (nine) and OPS (.958) this year, the Mississauga, Ont., native is one of the top offensive threats at his position.

Not having a good go of it with basestealers. Neither are the 2 weak sticks we have behind the plate in the majors. Francona keeps repeating they don't want to rush him
It's kind of keep that bat out of the major league lineup where the catchers we have are hitless, now 0-35, in May.

Bo Naylor first hitter in at least 60 hits with 3 consequetive games with 8h inning or later go-ahead or game winning homer. Bullpen lost of one three games and came pretty close to losing the other two.

Now that Gallagher won the race for first hit by a starting catcher in the month of May, AND nailed two runners in the same game, I'd give him the job unless or until Naylor II gets the call. I am fully aware that Prime Career Zunino is far and away superior to Gallagher, but that's the guy on our team.

Battenfield on the IL. His next turn would be Monday which is also Gaddis' next turn, so he's the logical replacement. His last outings in Columbus were good.
In case you were thinking of Plesac he was nailed for 3 homers last night and 5 runs in 4 2/3 AAA innings.

Time to send Brennen down and bring Gonzalez back up. Gonzalez needs to stay in right field or DH .

Injury update:

Being told #Guardians 22-year-old OF prospect George Valera is still a week or two away from returning to action. Valera is currently on the IL at Columbus with a hamstring injury.

Valera is nearly always out with some kind of an injury. I do not put much faith in him being the solution to this team.

I agree Brennan needs to return to Columbus

But Oscar has done nothing in Columbus to be worthy of a return up 1-71.
It would not be a bad idea to consider just perhaps trading some pitching depth or middle infield depth for an OF of major league ability

Quantrill has successfully resolved he quandry on what do with our excess of starting pitchers. Perhaps time in the bullpen in place of Karinchak; perhaps joining Plesac in the Clippers rotation.
It is nearly time to make room for Gavin Williams too so Civale will need to prove himself as both healthy and successful

Michael Kelly earns a 24 hour stay on the roster. Here today, going tomorrow.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Guardians pitching staff continues to evolve.

On Friday they placed right-hander Cal Quantrill on the injured list with a sore right shoulder to create a spot in the rotation for Aaron Civale, who started against the Twins that same night.

n Saturday, they selected the contract of veteran right-hander Michael Kelly, 30, from Class AAA Columbus. They needed to clear two spots -- one of the 26-man and one on the 40-man roster -- for Kelly.

To accomplish that right-hander Hunter Gaddis was optioned to Triple-A and right-hander Peyton Battenfield was moved from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list with a sore right shoulder.

Clear so far?

One more thing, the Guardians are going to have to make another couple of moves before Triston McKenzie comes off the IL Sunday to start against the Twins. They need to clear spots on the 26-man and 40-man rosters so McKenzie can make his first start of the regular season.

Manager Terry Francona indicated that Kelly’s stay in the big leagues would be brief. He could be designated for assignment on Sunday when McKenzie is activated.

“Kelly has had an upward mobility out (in his contract),” said Francona. “So, the chances are that this won’t be long. He’s aware of that.

“We’ve got to make a move for Triston for Sunday. But Kelly is on the roster and he’s in that mix. But he’s aware that this could be a short stay this time.”

The clause allows players to secure a job with another big-league team if their current team won’t put them on the 40-man roster. The Guardians added Kelly to the 40-man on Saturday and may remove him Sunday to make room for McKenzie on the 26 and 40-man rosters.

The Guardians invited Kelly to spring training on a minor league deal. This is his 12th year in pro ball, but he’s only spent four games in the big leagues. That was with the Phillies in 2022.

Kelly opened the season at Columbus and went 1-0 with two saves and a 1.61 ERA. In 18 appearances, he pitched 22 1/3 innings, striking out 30 and walking 13. The opposition hit .233 against him.

In 2011 Kelly was selected in the first round by the Padres as a supplemental pick.

“Kelly has been good since day one at Columbus,” said Francona.

Gaddis will start for the Clippers on Tuesday.

“That’s good for him,” said Gaddis. “We got an inning out of him Friday night because we’ve used the bullpen so much.

“We see him making progress. Carl (Willis, pitching coach) says, ‘When he warms up there is a lot to like.’ Now he has to continue to take it into the game. We’ve seen glimpses of it.

“He’s a big-bodied kid with some movement there, so he has to work on his consistency.”

Gaddis opened the season in Cleveland rotation because of McKenzie’s spring-training injury. He’s 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA in eight games, including six starts. He’s struck out 21 and walked nine in 31 1/3 innings.

Since I threatened to send Brennen to Columbus he has caught fire. I am going to rescind my threat but i will be watching.

As crazy as this team and season have been I would not be surprised if the Guardians could find a way in to the playoffs that they might do some damage. These young pitchers are really good.

And we still have Gavin Williams to add to the rotation, and he is often rated the best of the bunch, he hits 100 and is regularly in the 97-98 range
