While Brewers rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio is thriving in the big leagues, his younger brother is taking the first steps toward doing the same thing one day.

Last fall, outfielder Jaison Chourio checked in at No. 3 on our ranking of the top 20 prospects in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League before earning a bump to Low-A for nine games.

The younger Chourio returned to Lynchburg as a 19-year-old this season and caught evaluators’ eyes in a variety of ways. In Best Tools voting, Carolina League managers chose Chourio in four categories: Best Batting Prospect, Best Strike-Zone Judgment, Best Defensive Outfielder and Most Exciting Player.

With the year Chourio is having, it’s easy to see why he dominated the voting.
Heading toward mid August, he was one of just three teenagers whose seasons have been spent entirely in the full-season minor leagues with more walks (67) than strikeouts (61). His overall strikeout rate was just 16.2%.

Chourio puts the bat on the ball plenty, and the results have been excellent. The switch-hitting center fielder’s name dots the Carolina League leaderboards in a plethora of categories. Through 89 games, Chourio hit .279/.412/.416 with five home runs and 43 stolen bases.

His .412 on-base percentage, 67 walks, 23 doubles and 43 stolen bases all ranked among the best in the league.

Carolina League managers were uniformly impressed with Chourio’s defense, too. He received all but one of the votes in the category and had committed just two errors all season. He also had racked up six outfield assists, which helped him earn a vote in the Best Outfield Arm category as well.

All of this makes it easy to see why Chourio is valued so highly in the industry as he has played his way into the Top 100 Prospects. That should sound familiar. His older brother Jackson did the same in 2022.

Justin Lada and Arthur Kinney

Triple-A - Indianapolis Indians 9, Columbus Clippers 8 (F/10)
Double-A - Akron RubberDucks 3, Harrisburg Senators 2
High-A - Lake County Captains 7, West Michigan Whitecaps 1
Single-A - Salem Red Sox 5, Lynchburg Hillcats 4
DSL Playoffs - Red Sox Red 12, Guardians Goryl 5 (Red Sox Red lead best-of-3 Quarterfinal 1-0)
HIGHLIGHTS

George Valera (DH, Columbus): 3-5, 2 HR, 2 RBI - Valera left Huntington Park in this one, giving him 14 for the year. His OPS vs. RHP this year is now over .850. The Guardians need help from a left handed hitter. There is swing and miss in his game and he’s a little passive, and also may not draw a ton of walks for that passivity, but it might be now or never or Valera given his options situation.

Gabriel Arias (SS, Columbus): 2-5, HR - Arias continues to stay hot in Columbus with another homer. It looks like Cleveland is going to stick with Rocchio at this point, though Arias is the better defender at short and offers more upside with the bat (albeit with lower floor).

Subscribed

Juan Brito (2B, Columbus): 3-5, 2B, 2 RBI - Brito has 30 doubles and 14 homers this year, though he’s been having a tough August. His fit is also a bit odd right now, but in another year, he would be getting a shot soon.

Aaron Bracho (1B, Akron): 3-4, HR - A year ago, people tried to say that Bracho was re-emerging as a prospect, but he’s got seven homers this year in his third season in Double-A now and is set to be a minor league free agent at the end of the year.

Jake Fox (SS, Lake County): 2-3, RBI, BB, SB - A solid game for Fox, who is still repeating High-A for a second year. What’s even more notable here is that this is just Fox’s 10th pro start at shortstop and his first since 2022. Not sure where that came from as he spent almost all of 2023 in the outfield and split more of his season between second base and the outfield.

Yorman Gomez (SP, Lake County): 7IP, 3H, ER, 2BB, 5K - Gomez has been good so far in his first exposure to High-A. He’s a bit undersized but has had some interesting stuff and traits. He’ll probably start next season in High-A as well, but he’s at least interesting enough to keep an eye on.

Tommy Hawke (CF, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2B, 3B, BB, SB - A really nice table setting game for Hawke, who has an interesting swing trying to really punch the ball. Not sure how that’s going to play against better breaking stuff, but he has speed and on-base skills so he can do a lot of things well.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Andrew Walters (RP, Columbus): 0.1 IP, K - For the fourth time in eight August appearances, Walters came in to face one batter and was done for the night. Not sure if Cleveland is trying to cap his innings, but he’s having a great August, striking out seven, walking one and allowing three hits in 5.2 innings. In fact, Walters last allowed a run (three) on July 26 and those were his only runs allowed in July and August combined to this point.

Cooper Ingle (DH, Akron): 2-4 - Just two singles for Ingle but he continues to hit and get on base.

Tommy Mace (SP, Akron): 5IP, 3H R, 2K - No walks for Mace, which is nice, and only three hits but struck out three through five. He really doesn’t miss many bats and looks like an org arm at this point. We’ll see if he undergoes any changes in the offeason or takes some developmental turn. He’s having a nice season here, but it looks like Double-A success.

Alex Mooney (3B, Lake County): 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB - Nice to see Mooney rebounding a bit. He had a really great start to the season and hit a bit of a lull, which isn’t unexpected with playing the longest season of his life so far.

Wuilfredo Antunez (RF, Lake County): 2-5, 2B, RBI - I like the way Antunez has settled in so far at High-A. It’s early and the league will of course adjust, but he’s hit the ball well so far and has had some tools.

Jorge Burgos (LF, Lake County): 2-5, 2B, RBI - Burgos has also shown quite a bit of power this year, especially lately. Again, it’s his second year in High-A, and I’m not sure what he can do in Double-A, but the exit velos make him interesting.

Jay Driver (RP, Lake County): IP, 3K - Driver has had a pretty good first full pro season. The Harvard grad and Cape Cod alum is one of the Guardians yearly side arm draft picks.

Logun Clark (C, Lynchburg): 3-4, RBI - Clark has been a hot bat since getting to Lynchburg. He’s 20 and this is his first exposure to non-complex ball, so it’s nice to see things going his way.

Welbyn Francisca (SS, Lynchburg): 1-4, RBI, 2 SB - A lot of players run wild in Low-A due to pitchers with poor pickoff moves, raw catchers and just getting general green lights. Francisca now has four steals and reached base twice here.

Yeiferth Castillo (RF, DSL Goryl): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB - Castillo’s three-run homer to left in the third gave Goryl the first lead of the game, albeit a very short-lived one as the Red Sox Red came back and tied the game up in the bottom of the frame.

Jhorvic Abreus (3B, DSL Goryl): 1-4, 2 RBI, 1 K, 2 E - Abreus drove in the other two Goryl runs but also gave an unearned one to the Boston affiliate on a third-inning fielding miscue.

I have noticed that Valera has been looking better especially with his home run success. 4 homers in his last 10 games although that's still only produced a stat line of 216/237/568.
Once upon a time a very highrated prospect; Has he earned a trip to CLE for the stretch run? Perhaps anyone is a potential upgrade at this point.

Re: Minor Matters

13165
Havent' posted daily stat heros here for awhile. Here;s some notes from Friday games

One of our Dominican teams made the post season and was eliminated 2-0
A fellow named Miguel Flores pitched 4 2/3shutout innings fanning 8. The bullpen allowed 15 runs in the next 4 1/3
Flores is a 6-2 RHP who had an ERA of 2.93 and 59 K in 46 innings. Perhaps someone to watch when he comes stateside?

Lynchburg ralled late to tie but lost 9-8. Hitting heros:
W Francisa 3 singles; 343/882 [SS]
Hawke 2 singles, walk, 33rd steal 279/769. Strong second half [OF]
Knapczyk single twice double once 259/754
Merejo pinch hit single; 317/1011

Lake County won 4-2
Bazzana 2 singles and a walk 259/819

Akron lost 3-2
Ingle 2 singles; 310/927
Bracho HR 8 241/686
Messick 5 5 2 2 3 5 2.15 in AA

Columbus lot 6-2
McKenzie awful again: 4 7 5 3 3 4 5/80
Aleman is finally back not excelling 1 2 0 0 1 1
DeLauter homer and walk
Manzaro single; 262/936 but Terry Pluto pointed out today that since his demotion back to Columbus he's below 230

HIGHLIGHTS

Jake Fox (CF. Lake County): 3-4, 2 R, 1 RBI - Fox drove in his 45th run of the season as part of his second multi-hit, three-base performance in a row. That’s a pretty impressive way to break out of a five-game, 17-at-bat hit drought!

Travis Bazzana (2B, Lake County): 2-3, 1 R, 1 BB - Once everything clicked for this summer’s first overall pick, he started playing like…a first overall pick. Since his first professional multi-hit game last Wednesday, Travis is slashing .444/524/.667 in five games. It will be interesting to see whether he makes his debut at the Corner of State and Main in Akron this season or next.

Angel Genao (DH, Lake County): 2-4, 1 2B ,1 RBI, 1 K - Genao just continues to rake in High-A, with this two-hit evening - which included his 65th RBI of the 2024 campaign across both of the Guardians A-ball clubs - bringing his Captains slash line to .317/.371/.451 in 54 games.

Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lynchburg): 3-5, 2 R, 1 3B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K - Knapczyk came within a double of the cycle in the best performance of a huge night for the Hillcat offense as he broke out of a 1-for-17 mini-slump.

Welbyn Francisca (SS, Lynchburg): 3-5, 1 R, 1 K - Guardians prospects having instant or near-instant success at a new level has been one of the storylines of 2024 in the Cleveland system, and Francisca’s introduction to non-complex ball has been a prime example as Welbyn is slashing .343/.439/.443 with twelve RBI in 18 games as a Hillcat.

Tommy Hawke (LF-CF, Lynchburg): 2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB - Hawke’s second two-hit performance in as many days not only extended his on-base streak to 19 games (42 trips to the basepaths), second among active Hillcat streaks only to the 25-game streak (on base 52 times!) of Jaison Chourio, who had Friday off, but also saw him steal his 33rd base of the season to break into the top ten on the Carolina League leaderboard on his own (rather than as part of a tie) and extend his baserunner streak (includes reaching on errors and fielder’s choices) to 54 games!

Fran Alduey (3B, Lynchburg): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 E - Alduey joined in the offensive onslaught with a pair of extra-base hits for his second two-hit game in his last four played.

Miguel Flores (SP, DSL Goryl): ND, 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 8 K - The Cuban southpaw saved the best performance of his rookie season in MLB-affiliated ball for the postseason. Unfortunately, his teammates in the bullpen did not do the same.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Christian Cairo (3B, Columbus): 2-3, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 E - Cairo remains tied with 1B Kyle Manzardo for the longest active Clipper hitting streak (four games) after the Clip Show’s only multi-hit performance of the night.

Gabriel Arias (SS, Columbus): 1-4, 1 2B, 1 E - Speaking of streaks, Arias has now reached 16 times over the course of a nine-game on-base streak after hitting the Clippers’ other double of the evening.

Chase DeLauter (LF, Columbus): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 Outfield Assist - DeLauter opened his Triple-A home run and RBI accounts with a 384-foot blast to right center (103 MPH exit velo) that provided a notable moment in an otherwise forgettable evening at the Corner of Neil and Nationwide.

Randy Labaut (RP, Columbus): 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R (unearned), 2 BB, 2 WP, 2 K - Labaut allowed no earned runs for the fourth time in five outings of three or more innings this season.

Cooper Ingle (C, Akron): 2-5 - Ingle remains hot to start his Double-A career with a .310/.444/.483 slash line in his first eight games as a RubberDuck and a twelve-game on-base streak that goes back to his last four contests as a Captain.

Aaron Bracho (2B, Akron): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K - Bracho recorded the only RBI of the night for the Mallards of Main Street on a game-tying ninth-inning homer to right center, extending his on-base streak to 15 games in the process.

Milan Tolentino (3B, Akron): 1-4, 1 R, 1 SB, 1 E - Usually, discrepancies between the number of runs a team scores and the number they drive in is due to prosaic reasons such as runs scoring on errors or double plays. last night, however, it was for the cool reason: Tolentino stole home! (Fun Fact: the lone caught stealing of the night for the RubberDucks was also on a stolen plate attempt - this one by Alexfri Planez.)

Alexfri Planez (RF, Akron): 1-4, 1 K, 1 CS, 2 Outfield Assists - While Planez’s attempted theft of home did not go as planned, he was a maestro with the glove on Friday night, throwing out a pair of runners at third base from right field.

Parker Messick (SP, Akron): ND, 5 IP, 5 H, 2 R (both earned), 3 BB, 5 K - The fact that this was his second-worst outing as a RubberDuck speaks to how dominant Messick has been from the outset in Double-A.

Alex Mooney (3B, Lake County): 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K - Mooney is now one shy of the 50-RBI mark in his first full professional season after a sixth-inning RBI double.

Johnny Tincher (C, Lake County): 0-3,1 R,1 HBP, 1 K - While Tincher is likely glad to have extended his on-base streak to 18 games with his 30th trip to the basepaths in that span, he probably wished he had done so in a less painful way.

Alonzo Richardson (SP, Lake County): ND, 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R (both earned), 3 BB, 1 WP, 2 K - Richardson’s third High-A statline was a near-carbon copy of his second, except for the part where he posted the same numbers across six innings instead of the four frames he hurled last thursday.

Adam Tulloch (RP, Lake County): W (5-0), 2 IP, 1 H, 4 K - Tulloch was dominant in middle relief last night, giving him his fifth individual victory in his 28th appearance, matching his 2023 Lynchburg Hillcats totals exactly in both categories - albeit without the six defeats he suffered last season.

Allan Hernandez (RP, Lake County): S (6), 1 IP, perfect, 1 K - Hernandez is making the most of finally getting to pitch a full season - his 33 games pitched this year surpassing the 30 official games he appeared in over his first five years as a professional - by taking hold of the closer position left open in Lake County by the callups of Magnus Ellerts and Zane Morehouse.

Ryan Cesarini (RF, Lynchburg): 1-5, 1 2B, 2 RBI - This summer’s 14th round selection is off to a great start to his pro career, reaching safely in each of his first four games and slashing .333/.412/.667.

Gabriel Rodriguez (2B, DSL Goryl): 2-4, 1 R, 1 E - Rodriguez, who was transferred from the Mendoza roster for the last week of the regular season, finished his rookie campaign going 3-for-9 in the postseason.

Yeiferth Castillo (RF, DSL Goryl): 1-4, 2 RBI, 2 K - Castillo drove in a majority of the Goryl runs on a fourth-inning single.

Double-A - Akron RubberDucks 4, Harrisburg Senators 3
High-A - Lake County Captains 4, West Michigan Whitecaps 3
Single-A - Lynchburg Hillcats 3, Salem Red Sox 0
Highlights:

George Valera (DH, Columbus): 2-for-3, 2 Rs, HR, RBI, BB - Valera was able to reach base three times, but his day was highlighted by a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth. He now has 18 total bases in the last four games and has four homeruns in as many games played to give him 15 on the season. The longball was not even his hardest hit ball of the day after his single was measured at 105.4 mph off the bat.

Ryan Webb (SP, Columbus): W (2-0), 5.0 IP, 5 H, R, 0 BBs, 2 Ks - Make it back-to-back starts for Webb out of three where the southpaw has picked up the pitching win after five innings of work where he allowed a single run. He peppered the strike zone (80 pitches, 51 strikes) and provided a balanced attack between the fastball and the changeup. Hitters were swinging at the changeup often, but the only two hard hit balls off it were hit on the ground to limit damage.

Subscribed

Dayan Frias (3B, Akron): 2-for-4, R, 3B - Frias was able to leg out a triple in the bottom of the ninth inning that ended up being the game-winning run in a walk-off win. He now has hits in each of the last three games and extra-base hits in three of his last seven contests.

Zach Jacobs (SP, Lake County): W (6-3), 4.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, K - After control problems for the starter Spivey, Jacobs was called upon in a long relief effort and delivered a plus-level performance with 4.1 hitless frames. He would leave all three inherited runners stranded and was a key element to allowing the Captains to maintain a gap prior to a ninth-inning comeback that fell just short for the opponents. It is the longest appearance for Jacobs since June 19.

Jonah Advincula (CF, Lake County): 2-for-3, R, 2B, 2 RBIs, BB - Early in the game, Advincula put his mark on it with a two-run double to put the Captains ahead 2-0 and the team would not look back from there. He has a hit in all four games played in Grand Rapids, but this his first multi-hit performance of the series and a huge bounce back after struggles over the last two weeks.

Kyle Scott (SP, Lynchburg): 6.0 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BBs, 5 Ks - The 22-year-old righty has been excellent in the month of August and this his best performance of the month and the best of his professional career thus far. He faced one over the minimum through six innings and struck out five. He lowers his ERA on the year to 2.79 with a three-start month of August that has seen him go 18.0 innings allowing only eight hits, one run and zero walks while keeping opponents to a .129 batting average.
Notable Performances:

Raynel Delgado (3B, Columbus): 2-for-3, R, BB - Delgado joined Valera as a man who reached base three times with a pair of singles and a walk. It is his fifth multi-hit game in the month of August.

Johnathan Rodriguez (LF, Columbus): 2-for-4, 2 R, HR, RBI - Rodriguez left the yard as well - his 19th in Columbus. Similarly to Valera, Rodriguez had a harder exit velocity on his single than the homerun at 107.2 mph off the bat.

Gabriel Arias (SS, Columbus): 2-for-4, R, HR, RBI, E6F - The tear since being optioned continued on Saturday night for Arias with his fifth homerun in 27 games. His long flyball came on the backend of consecutive homeruns by he and Rodriguez.

Austin Peterson (SP, Akron): 6.0 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BBs, 7 Ks - Even without his best stuff, the right-hander was still able to log six innings and exit the game with a tie score. Three hits and two walks doomed the top of the fifth for all three of his earned runs. He also struck out seven, his tenth game with seven or more K’s this year.

Guy Lipscomb (RF, Akron): 1-for-4, RBI - Lipscomb was the hero for the RubberDucks on Saturday night and delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to score Frias and secure the win for the home squad. He has struggled since moving up to Akron, but hopefully this can spark a strong close to the 2024 campaign.

Aaron Bracho (DH, Akron): 1-for-3, R, RBI, HBP - Bracho was able to reach base twice, a feat that only he and Frias were able to do in a game with zero walks as a team. He was able to tie the game at 3-3 with an RBI single.

Jorge Burgos (DH, Lake County): 2-for-4, R, 2 2Bs - A two-hit day for Burgos, both of which went for extra-bases. The 22-year-old had a double in Friday’s game as well and 14 on the season to go with 15 homeruns.

Angel Genao (SS, Lake County): 2-for-4, 2B, RBI, SF - Production continues for the 20-year-old with a double and a sacrifice fly in Saturday’s win. His on-base streak reaches 10 games and he had accumulated 46 extra-base hits on the year after his 33rd double.

Cam Schuelke (RP, Lynchburg): W (1-0), 2.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BBs, 4 Ks, E1T FPO - The 2024 19th round selection has looked good out of the bullpen for Lynchburg in five appearances and this his longest of the season at two innings of work. A throwing error could have derailed his outing, but four punchouts helped get him out of trouble.

Reny Artiles (RP, Lynchburg): S (5), 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 3 Ks - The 22-year-old successfully closed out his fifth game of the year on Saturday and completed the shutout by striking out the side. A hit and a walk meant he had to face the tying run in the ninth to do so, however.

I won't disagree; thiis is the most sustained play by Valera in years. lFreeman is expendable, that makes room for one. Schneeman comes through from time to time; his OPS of 711 tops lots of the rest of his teammates [Giminez: 629; Brennan 685; Bo 626; Rocchio 615; Thomas 396 with the Guardians.

It certainly is unfortunate that Thomas has no minor league options left; that's an assumption, I'll see if I can find out for certain.
Maybe someone else can, I could not

Single-A - Lynchburg Hillcats 5, Salem Red Sox 4
HIGHLIGHTS

Juan Brito (1B, Columbus): 3-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 E - Brito's second three-hit game of the series saw him come within a triple of the cycle for a season-high seven total bases. For those wondering, his first-inning solo shot went 383 feet and left his bat at 106.2 MPH (his single also exceeded 100 MPH - 100.2 to be exact).

George Valera (starting LF, Columbus): 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K - While Valera only had one extra-base hit on Sunday, it was the single most impactful swing of the bat all day as his two-run line-drive homer to right in the fourth (359 feet, 103.2 MPH) gave the Clip Show the lead for good. Like Brito, Valera also had his hardest of the day on a single (104.5 MPH)

Doug Nikhazy (RP, Columbus): W (5-2), 4.2 IP, 4 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 K - After an uneven opener stint by Zak Kent, Nikhazy came in with two outs in the third and dominated in a bulk outing that lasted into the eighth. Nikhazy seems to be getting a handle on International League hitting as this was his third August outing in which he allowed one run or less. Yes, he did allow five in the other one, but that seems to be more of a good pitcher having a bad day than indicative of anything bigger.

Kody Huff (C, Akron): 3-5, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - While he has cooled off from July, when he posted a .913 OPS, Huff continued a solid August (.790 OPS) on Sunday with his second three-hit game out of three played last week - a series during which he slashed .462/.500/.692.

Travis Bazzana (2B, Lake County): 1-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 K - Bazzana’s second professional home run came at an opportune time for the Captains as his three-run blast in the ninth (399 feet, 109 MPH) gave the Eastlake nine, who were down to their last two outs, the lead and, ultimately, the series finale victory. Fun Fact: Travis’s round-ripper was he first ninth-inning go-ahead homer of the Captains; 2024 campaign and the franchise’s first in over a year (Jorge Burgos’ walk-off against the Quad Cities River Bandits last May 30 at Classic Auto Group Park was the last one). Hat tip to LC play-by-play announcer Logan Potosky for this stat.

Ralphy Velazquez (1B, Lake County): 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB - The other two Captains runs also came on a notable homer as Velazquez sent he ball over the fence in fair territory for the first time in High-A in the top of the sixth to give Lake County the first lead of the game.

Dylan DeLucia (SP, Lake County): ND, 5 IP, 2 H,1 BB, 4 K - Also crucial to the Captain victory was DeLucia’s second scoreless start of the week. Over 9.2 combined innings, Dylan allowed only five baserunners (four hits and a walk) while striking out eight, When his one-run outing n the previous homestand against the Great Lakes Loons is added to the total, he result is a 0.61 ERA, 0.48 WHIP, and 17:1 K:BB ratio in his last three starts.

Welbyn Francisca (SS, Lynchburg): 2-4, 1 R, 1 K, 2 SB - Francisca continued his stellar start in non-complex ball on Sunday with his second multi-hit game in as many days and third of the series. He is now slashing .351/.442/.446 with twelve RBI since being called up from Goodyear late last month.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Chase DeLauter (RF, Columbus): 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 Outfield Assist - DeLauter wrapped up his first Triple-A series with an RBI double - his first two-bagger as a Clipper.

Gabriel Arias (3B, Columbus): 0-3, 1 BB,1 K - Arias extended his team-leading on-base streak to eleven games on an eighth-inning walk.

Guy Lipscomb (LF, Akron): 2-4, 1 2B - Lipscomb's first multi-hit Double-A game.saw him double for the second straight Sunday, accounting for both of his RubberDuck two-base hits.

Kahlil Watson (2B, Akron): 2-5, 1 R, 1 K, 1 SB - The last two Sundays have also been big for Watson, whose only two multi-hit games this month have come on those days.

Aaron Davenport (SP, Akron): ND, 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R (both earned), 3 BB, 1 BK, 5 K, 1 HR allowed - Davenport ended the series the way he started it, with an impressive start. Across his two starts last week, he allowed only three earned runs in 10.2 combined innings.

Isaiah Greene (LF, Lake County): 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K - Greene’s two-hit day - the only multi-hit performance of Sunday for the Captains - was highlighted by Lake County’s lone double of the contest.

Johnny Tincher (starting C, Lake County): 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K - Like Arias, Tincher extended a lengthy on-base streak (in his case, now at 19 games) via walk.

Tommy Hawke (DH, Lynchburg): 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 SB - Hawke not only extended his on-base and baserunner streaks to 21 and 56 games, respectively, but also stole both second and home (the latter as part of a double steal) once he got on base.

Ryan Cesarini (LF, Lynchburg): 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 SB - Speaking of stolen bases, Cesarini stole a trio of them, including home (also as part of a double steal) to open his professional stolen base account.

Christian Knapczyk (2B, Lynchburg): 0-1, 1 RBI, 2 BB, 1 SF - Knapczyk drove in his 40th run of the season on a fifth-inning sac fly that provided an insurance run that ended up being the decisive tally.

Jervis Alfaro (SP, Lynchburg): ND, 4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R (earned), 3 BB, 3 K - Alfaro rebounded from his worst non-complex outing so far (5 ER allowed in 4 IP in the series opener last Tuesday) to allow only one earned run for the third time in four Hillcat starts.
