Roster now down to 39. Maile was not tendered a contract. Neither was Gose but since he had already been DFA'd I don't understand that.
So the roster now has 2 catchers: Naylor and Lavastida. Combined major league totals: 1 single in 20 at bats.

What do Guardians' fans have to be thankful for this year?

Everything!

And MLB.com says "what every franchise has to be thankful for"

Guardians: That building can get loud again.
Those of us who remember how full and wild Cleveland and its stadium were in their perpetually-sold-out '90s incarnation took much joy in the wall of sound that place produced in their ALDS against the Yankees. Those fans are still there, and still great. Not every franchise can say that.

Cleveland Guardians (92-70)
J.D. Martinez, DH

Look, the Guardians probably won’t do this. Cleveland has eschewed major commitments to free agents in recent years. And even if Martinez, at 35 after a down season in 2022, is unlikely to fetch beyond a two-year deal, the team may not want to clog up its roster with a hitter unlikely to play the field. But Martinez can still produce at the plate, even in decline, and his influence on Cleveland’s young roster could be profound.

Lots of other deals the Guardians probably won't do either. I would put Aaron Judge on top of that list.

Is Antonetti in the work mode or vacation mode?

Winter Meetings under way.

I see Bryan Reynolds All Star CF for the Pirates wants to be traded.

I would swoop right in and offer Straw, Plezac and some high prospects for this guy. If the Pirates are listening to offers, they'll have quite a few to choose from.
