Tomlin has now gone 4 with just the 2 runs allowed. Tribe has done nothing to support him. Big rally here in the 4th when Kipnis and Santana walkw ith one away and Brantley bats. Lines out to Right.

Josh Tomlin allows four runs in 6 1/3 innings as Cleveland Indians fall, 5-0
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – It didn’t start or end particularly well for Josh Tomlin against Texas on Tuesday, but he did make his bid for the last job in the Indians’ rotation.
Tomlin, competing with Carlos Carrasco, gave up two runs in the first inning and two more in the sixth as Texas shut out the Indians 5-0 at Goodyear Ballpark.
For the day, Tomlin allowed four runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out five.
On Monday, Carrasco allowed three runs on eight hits in six innings in an 8-3 victory over the Reds.
“I feel like I’m pitching for a job every time I go out there,” said Tomlin.
Before the game, manager Terry Francona indicated that the Indians knew which direction they were going in, but wanted to talk to all players involved. Francona said they had a staff meeting after the game and were expected to make the final roster moves then.
“I guess they’ll let us know in the next day or so,” said Tomlin. “Spring training is almost over.”
The Indians break camp Thursday after playing Arizona. They’ll play the Padres on Friday and Saturday at the University of San Diego before opening the season Monday against the A’s in Oakland.
Tomlin, with 20 strikeouts in 20 1/3 innings this spring, gave up two straight hits to start the first. Shin-Soo Choo opened with a single and went to third on a run-and-hit single by Elvis Andrus. Adrian Beltre, with one out, delivered both runs with a single to right.
“Josh settled down after that,” said Francona.
With two out in the sixth, Tomlin walked Mitch Moreland and gave up a two-run homer to Michael Choice. The Rangers added another run in the ninth.
Left-hander Robbie Ross and Nick Martinez combined on the seven-hitter for the Rangers.
The Indians are 17-8-2 in the Cactus League. The Rangers are 9-15-3.

Yup, I watched the whole thing last night. A great win. Masty was a stud but we lucked out on the 400 foot single that the A's did not score on. Boy, I am tired this A.M.

Woke up in time to watch the 9th on my phone; Axford worked himself into and out of trouble like a classic Bob Wickman-Joe Borowski-Chris Perez closer. But he got the job done, unlike the A's new closer Johnson.
One down, 161 to go.

Obviously a huge play was when Donaldson crushed a ball off the VERY top of the center field fence. Would have been gone in almost any park.
Runner on 2B, inexpicably went back to tag (instead of going halfway). The ball rebounded straight off the fence to Morgan's glove and he threw in. The runner could only go to 3B. Then Allen worked out of it. Crazy lucky.

So Allen was worse than his not too impressive box score line?
We need to count on him to be a solid 8th inning man to replace Smith and the "old Pestano" who isn't back yet.

Earliest doubleheader in Tribe history I have to assume. So much history in this sport!

For those of you on Comcast cable(and perhaps other cable systems) MLB has a free preview game this afternoon of the Tribe game.

Kluber is having lots of trouble today. One run on a couple hits and a walk in the first. Starts the 2nd allowing couple singles and walk loads the bases with no one out for long-time-ago ex-Indian Coco Crisp.

Kluber's up to 6 straight balls, Superstar Pitching Coach out to talk with him and straighten him out.
