BR also updated its Top 100 prospect list

CLE representatives:
7. 2B Travis Bazzana, CLE
63. OF Chase DeLauter, CLE [that's a big dropoff; I assume he will move back up once he confirms he's able to stay on the field]
70. 1B Ralphy Velazquez, CLE
72. SS Angel Genao, CLE
81. 1B Kyle Manzardo, CLE
92. OF Jaison Chourio, CLE
"Just outside of the top 100" about 50 players include Alex Clemmey

Return to the field around the minors:

Columbus won 6-4
Brito 2 doubles, he has 24 Valera 2 singles and 2 walks. Arias 2 singles and 2 stikeouts. Tena 17th homer and 17th error
Nikhazy 4 3 2 2 3 4 first runs allowed in AAA

Akron lost 1-9. but some solid line:
Kayfus 2 hits; Tolentino 3
Petersen OK: 4.2 3 2 2 1 7

Lake County won 3-2
Cooper Inlge 4 walks; he still leads the league in batting avg and on base pct
Maltrud 5 6 2 2 1 6 2.49 ERA

Lynchburg rained out

Curiously all yesterday's starters from A to the majors were born within about a year of each other. A 24 year old starter in Lake County is terribly impressive unless he moves up fast.

Hard to believe that Brito is not level one.

This guy did not make BR top ten list !

Guardians 23yr old INF prospect Jose Tena leads off tonight's game for Columbus with a 427 foot solo shot that came off the bat at 106.3 mph for his 17th HR of the season !

Really ? Guardians have the players to make a huge trade. How about Brito or (Tena), Kayfus and one of the Akron pitchers. You can add Espino if you really have someone you want.

Where's Franco Aleman? Last I know he had a lat strain and was supposed to be out 2-3 weeks. It's been months now.

"I'm not sure why, but Joey Cantillo was pulled from the starting lineup, being replaced by Tyler Beede. Beede did not fair well, allowing five runs on three hits and three walks in just 2⁄3 of an inning.

Tanner Burns put out the fire with 1 1⁄3 scoreless innings, then Cantillo re-materialized, pitching five solid innings of long relief, striking out six and allowing one run on three hits with one walk. It was Cantillo’s second consecutive rock solid outing."

Welbyn Francisca has the game of his life for the ACL Guardians. The star of the show was clearly Welbyn Francisca. The top international prospect who recently turned 18 just two months ago, had the best game of his young professional career, going 4-for-4 with three doubles, a home run, a walk, a stolen base and a whopping five runs scored. Francisca has been on an absolute tear over the past month and has raised his season OPS to .977. With the Arizona Complex League season ending soon, don’t be surprised to see him get an opportunity to continue playing with Lynchburg at Single-A.

Francisco has been getting good writeups from the time they signed him. He overshadowed DeLauter in the Arizona game yesterday

Tena does seem likely trade bait; his 17 homers are great; his 17 errors are not. I am surprised that Schneemann rather than Tena is Rocchio's backup

McKenzie trying again today for Columbus. He has a nice 13 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings over his first 2 starts. But he's also yielded 2 homers and has an ERA of 6.75

Of course we'd hope a 33 year old veteran could get AA hitters out; the keys of course are how hard he was throwing and how well he recovers.
Looking at his career stats here are some notes:

1. His career ERA is an unimpressive 4 .94
2, Only in 2021 did he have an ERA under 4 as a starter. He was 1.35 in 13 innings of relief in 22. Last year he was at 5.45
3. He has always been highly suspectible to home runs; More than one every 6 innings. Allowed 38 one season.
4. On the positive side, he's an Oregon State grad and we know that everyone they produce [Rutchman, Kwan, Bazzana] are stars.
