Got to ask yourself, why has he not been given any real playing time ? Got to think that they look at him as an utility outfielder, trade filler or cut. He looks terrible at the plate. Seems to have no game plan other than swinging as hard as he can.

both aiming for the playoffs and continuing tryouts.
As it stands now they have a solid 8 man lineup
Kwan Rosario Ramirez Naylor Giminez Gonzalez _____ Catcher Straw
Of course Straw doesn't hit, but he's a great CF. Maile has been hitting. He and Hedges are good defenders.
The blank rotates among Miller who can't field and hits a bit; Freeman who isn't too good at either; Benson who is a good OF and can run the bases [sounds like Zimmer II] and Palacios or Jones or anyone else they plug in.

Amending the above which came from a story about Rodriguez
The quote was about top 20 position players
Checking the actual stats
Among All position and/or pitchers players Giminez is no 6
The orher two are far behind

Agree with civ it's about auditions first but also hoping to catch lightning in a bottle.
With Benson, in my worthless opinion (homage to Hillbilly), they wanted to see how he fared against major league pitching. I think he does NOT get protected now in the Rule V draft.
Or of course they might now deem him expendable in a trade designed to clear out Rule V guys.
I do think they wanted Tito to see him in an MLB environment. Let's be realistic - Tito's input on these kids is so valuable and unless he sees them in MLB games that count it's hard for him to do that.

Bradley Zimmer was designated for assignment by the Phillies on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Zimmer saw some playing time against right-handed pitchers over the last week and went 4-for-16 with a double, four runs and four strikeouts over nine games. However, the 29-year-old will lose his spot on the 40-man roster after Brandon Marsh (ankle) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

First round busts like Benson are given many chances because their signing bonus is spread over their minor league years.
No more bonus money.
He gone.

Speaking of 1st round busts, Zimmer got a very long trial run. Has now been DFAd 3 times this year. Same kind of player: can catch the ball and run the bases. And nothing else.

If this is a preview of a playoff series vs. Seattle, they are a nicely matched pair of teams.
Well played games.
Civale will not be starting in the playoffs and Plesac wont' either
But then we didn't win the McKenzie or Bieber starts in Seattle

So....Where is Jose? Where are the line drives? Where are the homers? I see a lot of pop-ups and and a surprising number of bad strike-outs. Ever since the All Star break and his inclusion in the Home Run Derby his swing has been off. It is amazing that we have taken and held on to 1st~!
