Terry Francona said he doesn’t anticipate any moves prior to the 6 p.m. trade deadline, though he acknowledges things can change.

Here's a real blockbuster:

The Twins and Guardians have swung an inter-division trade, with Minnesota picking up catcher Sandy Leon. Right-hander Ian Hamilton is headed to Cleveland on the other end of the swap. The two players have been respectively assigned to their new teams’ Triple-A affiliates.

Hopefully perhaps that means Sean Murphy to the Guards.

No trades !!!!!! Not surprising... the Indians usually strike early and not late.

I do think they apparently are not fooled by this contention. Youth will continue to be served.

I will say that you HAVE to give young kids the chance to play and not block them. The auditions continue.

I thought that the best reason to trade was reducing the young prospect load on the roster. At season's end other teams will be able to just wait for Cleveland to DFA some of their kids. But I was not looking for much upgrade at this time
Perhaps they do think think Bo will be ready in April.

A lot of trades will happen before Rule 5 draft. Still time.

Sources: The Guardians are calling up infield prospect Tyler Freeman.

Takes one to know one rusty2. Gotta subscribe to The Athletic eh? It really is a bargain and high quality.

Yes they have until Rule 5 in the offseason to deal from that extra 40 man issue. And by then they will have continued to sort through guys (Tyler Freeman today) and have a better idea who are keepers and who can be left unprotected.

I enjoy it. I was not really thrilled with their trade deadline coverage. Too much of it seemed to be outdated on Monday and Tuesday morning.

I assume he's replacing Clement, but once again yesterday Owen Miller bulloxed up a play at 1st base, creating a double and the 5th and 6th runs kind of putting the game out of reach.

Thomas sent a two-strike double past Miller at first to bring home both runs. Miller stumbled before diving for the ball as it bounced past him. “Owen kind of lost his feet a little bit,” said Francona. “So it ends up being two more runs. It would have been a tough play anyway. But when he lost his feet it made it kind of impossible.”

Neither Nolan Jones nor Will Benson has much experience at 1st base but both have always been regarded as solid defenders and I'd much rather see them at 1st than watching Miller make a mess of things. With Reyes gone Naylor is now DH and we need to explore options for 1st base

I actually think Naylor was a pretty good defender at 1B - saw him scoop many throws.

But with his legs being such an issue....DH works.

Agree. Has anyone thought of Amed at First? He is an infielder and has tried outfield with little success. Just curious.
