Hmm Brantley was the throw in from the CC trade. Rosario was the throw in from the Lindor trade. Front office has a pretty good eye for undervalued guys. Myles Straw? Maybe even better.

Back to Rosario - Straw and Rosario are quite the 1-2 hitters and now provide actual baserunners who can steal in FRONT of Jose Ramirez - whom pitchers now have to pitch to.

Amed is young and quite the skilled hitter. He hustles his ass off. Even if he moves off SS we know that he can still play the position as a utility guy and that's valuable for a utility guy.

it is surprising how bad a big market team like the Angels can consistently be. Every winter they claim to be making major moves to surround Trout with talent to enable perhaps the GOAT to make the playoffs. Now they have perhaps the two best all around players in baseball yet some bad luck [one or the other hurt] and bad judgment on the other 24 men on the roster, and the team still stinks.

civ - these Angels just changed GMs this past offseason so, to me, it's a new slate now.

Past mistakes by the Angels include:

1. A stupid, very long term deal to Pujols.
2. An even stupider long term deal to...wait for it....Josh Hamilton.
3. Justin Upton the same

These were both large payroll handcuffs for very little value.

Of course now Ohtani really breaks through and Trout is out most of the season. Oh, I forgot Anthony Rendon also out most of this season!! So this season is some serious bad luck.

In the past this team has been unable to develop pitching (and remember more bad luck with the Tyler Skaggs death).

Looking at next season they have a fun team with stars everywhere. Rendon, Ohtani, Trout even their manager Joe Maddon.

But until they get a handle on that pitching issue, or trade for some (like the Tribe does!) they won't go anywhere.

McKenzie on the IL for what they assert will be a very brief time for recuperate from his last start. He's had lots of IL time in his minor league career so i hope this really is just temporary. He sure looks he's ready to be a solid big league starter.

We knew that the team would try to limit his innings somehow.

This is so common throughout MLB since they went to the 10 day IL.

In essence this meant that a SP would skip 1 start - and you would be foolish to not put him on the IL to open up the roster spot.

Shoot if you can IL a guy for a "sore shoulder" then all pitchers can always be on the IL.

Wilson Ramos will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL and an MCL sprain in his left knee.

Ramos suffered the injury during a throw to second base on Sunday. He'll require surgery at a date in the near future. Ramos previously tore the ACL in his right knee back in 2016, but the difference now is that he's 34 years old.

His rehab could stretch into next season and it's worth wondering what his future might be at this point.

Ramos was really making a bid to get back into the SHOW so very sorry for the guy.

Oh well, we move on though. I assume Roberto Perez will come back and play Tuesday instead of a rehab

civ - they said he was due to report to Columbus Tuesday before the Ramos injury.

Manning and Andre Knott speculated that he would instead now play in Cleveland instead. He was ready.

Hell he can just as easily go 0-4 for us or Columbus.

I agree with all that; Hoynes said he was not ready, but we'll see who's right.

Aaron Civale (finger) will make another rehab start with Double-A Akron on Wednesday.

Civale, who is coming back from a finger sprain, has allowed just one hit over 6 1/3 scoreless innings through his first two rehab outings. He should be ready to rock in early September and needs to be stashed away in any fantasy leagues where he's still available.

One more thing civ - really how ready does he have to be?

Hedges will be the catcher for now and Perez in effect is the emergency one.

also noted that the Red Sox who have several pitchers out with COVID bought the contract of Brad Peacock for $29.95 which seems like a pretty good deal for us to me.
