Absolutely! The Padres have [or had] such a deep and talented farm system that I guess they don't miss of them but for a pitcher who is unsurprisingly missing the first year of his new 2 year contract and then will be a free agent, we got:

Josh Naylor a pretty well accomplished hitter who has good chance to become more than that
Cal Quantrill unsuccessful as a starter so far but fine reliever at the worst
Austin Hedges excellent defensive catcher who can't hit.
Owen Miller the Savior of the Indians 2021; maybe
Gabriel Arias a really good SS
Joey Cantillo injured and out I don't know how long; haven't read

Brandon Phillips, Grady Sizemore and Cliff Lee were a pretty good return this crew may not reach that level.

What the heck do they need to keep JC Mejia on the roster for? That gives them 14 pitchers. They just had a day off. It gives them a bench of 3 one of whom is a catcher. Mejia is certainly not ready to pitch in the majors and is not needed; he's here only because they had to put someone on the roster when they demoted Giminez. I still have to assume he'll be replaced by tonight's game. It would make more sense to add any of the outfielders in Columbus even though none is doing much but at least they could pinch run for Hedges if he gets on base by luck

what's the rush? McKenzie starting today so there's a good chance they'll need 7 innings of relief. Then Hentges on Sunday, the same, so the more relievers we have on hand the better. And if they are at both at their worst, there's no way we can score enough runs to win so adding a hitter would be a waste of resources. I follow the logic on these decisions.

And besides that, Happ a lefty is going for the Twins, and Miller is a right handed hitter so we don't need him tonight. It means that Bauers gets to rest and perhaps we get to see Chang at 1st again. If we're lucky Luplow will be able to play in the OF so Naylor gets first and Chang gets to sit it out like he usually does.

Just had to say "It's Miller Time"!

Indians recalled INF Owen Miller from Triple-A Columbus.

Miller was acquired from the Padres last season in the trade that sent Mike Clevinger to San Diego. The 24-year-old was batting .406 at Triple-A Columbus before the promotion and boasts a compact swing with modest power as a right-handed hitter.

(Roberto Perez to the 60 day IL to open op 40 man roster space.)

Eight members of Cleveland’s 40-man roster — 20 percent — were obtained in trades with the Padres: Miller, Reyes, Josh Naylor, Phil Maton, Allen, Gabriel Arias, Austin Hedges and Cal Quantrill. Jake Bauers was drafted by the Padres. René Rivera spent two years with them. Brad Hand and Adam Cimber, who departed over the winter, had been acquired from San Diego as well.

Carrasco going to be out another month for Mets. He has not pitched a single inning for them yet. Torn hamstring.

The way Lindor has been going that trade has totally sucked so far for the Mets. Except they are PAYING for the sucking $$

TBD still listed for tomorrow; but the only other possibility besides Quantrill would be Eli Morgan who is scheduled for the Clippers on Thursday but tomorrow would be his normal start he last worked on the 21st. that was his night of the spring; 6 2 0 0 2 6.
Speaking of short RH as we were in Minor Matters, Morgan is 5-10 190 with good off speed stuff doesn't crack the team's top30; is on the 40 man roster.
