It was more than him too - I think they threw a bone to some of those kids.

Bauers and Gamel are just in extended ST. They could have cut them now or cut them later. They could be gone by mid May.
hope so

I think Luplow hit a couple homers in a B game but his official spring training average remains a perfect 0. 12 at bats, 5 strikeouts, only thing marring his perfect record is one hit by pitcher. I suppose he'll hit a little, but he was only 192 last season.

around the diamond the team looks:

C great defender; hit OK when he's not injured; backup good defender cannot hit even a little bit
1b certainly the worst in the majors; probably no better than than most in AAA; backup may hit homers, will definitely strike out a ton
2b very solid offense and defense; not a star; good ballplayer
ss good to better than good defender; might become a good hitter, maybe not
3b one of the best hitters in baseball
lf assuming spring training doesn't signify he's your average acceptable LF
cf two guys competed for the job and both lost; so we're trying someone who's never played there; pretty good hitter, don't let him try to steal; backup has a solid track record of not much
rf potential has not yet been proven or disproven
dh about your standard dh, maybe a bit less than average
utility IF has shown power; fortunately he's learning how to play 1b
utility OF has a nice round average of 0 in spring training, but usually can hit lefties pretty well

which adds up to: Clearly below average offense; with an upper limit of average; and a lower limit of godawful
defensively above average in the interior; outfield not so hot

They must have told Bauers to swing at the freakin' ball.

Hurray, Bauers knocks in his first RBI of the spring.(along with 2 Ks) in today's game.

Can Johnson play center field? I hope he gets most if not all work in Columbus in center. Zimmer and Mercado can work in left right and DH.

It had been mentioned earlier that Johnson CAN play CF.

He has spent most of his career in the corners I believe. It would be handy to have a very good CF with somewhat limited corner OFs

Not a lot of CF experience but some games every year:

2016 24 in CF
2017 60 in CF
2018 23 in CF
2019 34 in CF

Lindor accepts a cut rate deal; $341,000,000 for 10 years
NY Times already speculating that he will thereby ultimately become Mets All time leader in nearly everything

at 34.1M per year that's around 1/2 of the Indians' payroll.

Jose Ramirez ought to feel that he got a raw deal. 2 more years on his contract. Probably gone by opening day next year with guys like Miller and Freeman ready to try to replace him.
