It looked like we were going to pick up ground on TX, but Oakland can't hold a 9-2 lead :(
They've given up 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th!

Kept me occupied, at least.
Thanks JR

CWS in green trim tonight (St. Patrick's Day 1/2)
Indians load the bases with one out, but Brantley and Cabrera can't drive anyone in.

Indians have been scoring again tonight! 7-0 in the 6th. Why can't we play the CWS every day?

Ubaldo keeps pedal down on Tribe's pursuit
Cabrera, Chisenhall homer to back Jimenez's 8 1/3 stellar frames
By Manny Randhawa / MLB.com | 9/14/2013 10:11 PM ET

CHICAGO -- Ubaldo Jimenez continued his second half dominance on Saturday night and the Indians continued their push for the postseason.

Jimenez allowed one run on eight hits over 8 1/3 innings and both Asdrubal Cabrera and Lonnie Chisenhall homered in a five-run fourth inning to lift the Tribe to an 8-1 victory over the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

With the win, Cleveland moved to one game behind Tampa Bay for the second Wild Card spot in the American League, pending the outcome of the Rays' game against Minnesota which was delayed by rain.

Jimenez walked one and struck out eight to register his sixth quality start in his last seven outings.

The right-hander -- who has a 1.83 ERA since the All-Star break after posting a 4.56 mark in the first half -- has allowed one earned run over 21 1/3 innings in three September starts. He has also yielded two runs or fewer in 18 of his last 25 starts.

Jimenez gave the Indians' bullpen a much-needed rest after seven relievers combined for 5 1/3 innings in Friday's 3-1 victory.

With one on and one out in the fourth, Cabrera drilled a 1-0 fastball from White Sox starter Andre Rienzo into the seats in right-center to give the Indians a 2-0 lead. Following a Jason Giambi walk and a Yan Gomes single, Chisenhall hit a three-run blast to right-center to stake Jimenez to a five-run advantage.

The Tribe tacked on two more in the sixth on a two-out, two-run single by Carlos Santana. Ryan Raburn plated Jose Ramirez, who tripled, with a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

The Tribe has won a franchise-record 11 games in a row against the White Sox, and 14 of 16 games overall against Chicago this season.

We don't have any Kauffman tire stores around here. We used to have a department store by that name, but now it's Macy's.

I can report that the Twins came from behind late to beat the Rays, and the A's are beating TX, 5-1 in the top of the 9th. So the Indians have a great opportunity to advance in the WC chase.

Game is finally about to start! We are currently 1 game behind both TX and Tampa Bay. If we win, we will be .5 games back.
