Don't gum up the works.
I can't keep track of one of these guys, never mind two.

12213I see thst on their farm system depth chart baseball America listed him as a reliever behind Rule 5 guy Trevor Stephen and Nick Sandlin I guess he's expendable

12214Never thought it would be such a joy to see spring training games on tv.

Guys are raving about the throw Bo Naylor just made to throw out a steal attempt.

Re: General Discussion
12217Curious about the prospect ratings of some of our newcomers. I pulled out my 2017 BA Prospect Handbook.
Harold Ramirez was Blue Jays No. 14; with a rating of 50 which is pretty decent. Couldn't hit curveballs yet. Didn't walk much. Probably limited to LF.
Ahmed Rosario was rated between No.. 8 and No. 12 in all of baseball on several writers' lists. With an overall 60 meaning everyday starter, occasional all star with 70 for defense 60 for batting and speed and arm and 45 for power. with "potential to be all star SS with gold glove potential who can hit toward the top of the lineup"

12218While I had the book out, I checked out Indians prospects 4 springs ago. Worked my way up from the bottom
30- Marcos Gonzalez SS Not sure if he's got out of rookie ball yet
29 Jose Fermin SS Gradual uninspired ascent. He's in the extra group of 24 in camp this spring
28 Micah Miniard RHP he's disappeard
27 Oscar Gonzalez OF he hits but never walks, not in camp I think we still have him
26 Rob Kaminsky LHP last knew we was a minor league free agent signee elsewhere a year or two ago
25 Nellie Rodriguez 1B he's gone
24 Hoby Milner RHP he was in camp that year as a Rule 5 signing; we returned him; he's had some major league experience since
Then a series of starting pitching prospect:
23. Julian Merryweather RHP gone
22 Ryan Merritt LHP had a few games with the Indians
21 Shane Bieber RHP what ever happened to him? described as comparable to Plutko; could move up quickly; good control; 90 mph Fastball, p retty good curve and slider
20 Aaron Civale He's still around
19 Shawn Morimando LHP not quite as successful as the guys just below him
18 Tyler Krierger 2B he's in camp
17 Tim Cooney LHP he got hurt
16 Adam Plutko
15 Willi Castro good SS needs to be consistent; doubles hitter could grow into homers
14 Juan Hillman LHP still around in 2019
13 Mark Mathias IF someone took him in 2018 Rule 5, Oakland I think and he hung around as utility guy
12 Logan Ice C great defender, never could hit, gone
11 Yandy Diaz potential super utility palyer
10 Greg Allen OF there are a lot of these guys who've made the majors
9 Erik Gonzalez IF another one; regular in the Pirates infield
8 Nolan Jones 3b had just been drafted
7 Will Benson of remains flawed
6 Yu Chang SS rated a 55 level prospect, not quite matching that ceiling
5 Bobby Bradley 1B ditto; this is his last best chance
4 Brady Aiken LHP they took a flyer and it didn't work
3 Triston McKenzie RHP if he stays healthy he'll be good
2 Brad Zimmer OF power speed combo could yield 20 HR 20 SB can play CF good arm. Now or never for Brad this spring at age 28
1 Francisco Mejia C yielded Brad Hand, hurt last year, traded again, now he's with Tampa listed as a "catcher outfielder" Still only 25, could star.

Re: General Discussion
12219I have hope for Ahmed Rosario. Classic case of needing to get out of NYC with all the prospect hype thrown at him.civ ollilavad wrote:C

12220Rosario at SS or CF in your post hype fantasy world? I like Giminez and in the near future Freeman [probably 2nd base] and Arias too.
Re: General Discussion
12221civ - in the Articles folder Mandy Bell again points out the Tribe INSISTED on Gimenez in the Lindor trade. And he is the superior fielder.
Seems clear to me he is the SS.
So Rosario, to me, goes into the outfield mix but becomes utility unless he clearly shows something strong in the outfield.

Re: General Discussion
12222I'm surprised Rosario hasn't been traded...or dumped. I think he will make $2M this year. Tough to justify for a guy without a position. I'm sure we have utility players that are cheaper.
Re: General Discussion
12223Mike Freeman; Yu Chang; lots of cheap options. Of course none of them are as capable at SS. Tito is also playing Ernie Clement all over the field. And Owen Miller is too.
Re: General Discussion
12224Shots from today's game at Goodyear.
About 2000+ fans allowed. An idea of what that looked like:
Chisox Luis Robert taking a lead - he stole a base right after this
Naylor out to RF
After a few got subbed for:
Good guy Jake Bauers throws his glove to a kid at the game:

12225Was all excited to see George Valera get an at bat and he goes and grounds into a double play.
