The announcers said that he was working on laying down bunts the day before, when he saw that teams were putting the shift on him.

At the Astro's ST in Kissimmee a few years ago, I watched Pitcher's bunting practice. A group of about 10 pitchers had a bunting game for money. One guy told me they threw in $100 apiece and had targets on the field worth various points. Man with the most points at the end of several rounds, pocketed the money. The concentration on getting the ball down was the best I've seen at any ST practice.
