Fillmyer is one of a bunch of AAA rejects who the Indians collected to staff the Columbus rotation since all the Clippers starters are now in Cleveland

I forgot to post a recent outrageous stats line by Daniel Espino a couple nights ago

5 1/3 innings
5 hits
2 walks
6 runs all earned
1 home run
13 strikeouts

3 hits for Naylor yesterday and he's staying hot at the plate over a couple weeks; 11 hits in his last 28 at bats.
Overall numbers will continue to look bad since he was at 138/243/223.
But the rise to 197/279/287 is significant
Debuting the 21 year catcher in AA was a very agressive move

also for Akron Oscar Gonzalez with his 12th double and 12th homer. He's having his best season since he was MVP of the Arizona Summer league. Hitting 337 OPS 984. Although 10 walks in 186 total appearances doesn't sound like a lot, it's about twice as high a rate as in his full season career. Oh and he's an outfielder.

Plesac goes 3 innings, 43 pitches and only one run for Akron. Next time he could go 4 or 5. Well shoot the scrubs we have starting for us won't do more than that - time to bring him back.

Somewhat less exciting but Zack Godley has a similar line. Yes this guy has actual MLB experience so he would be an upgrade (pretty low bar..granted.)

Hentges at the very least needs to either go back to MiLB or the bullpen.

I'd like to see Hentges and Mejia in the Columbus rotation developing their skills.

And Morgan. Yes agree.

Will Benson with 3 multi hit games in a row is now 12th in the Eastern League [I refuse to use the silly formulaic "AA Northeast] in OPS 2nd in walks, 5th in on base pct, tied for first in triples, 11th in steals. He's diversified his offensive from homer or nothing. Since June 1 hitting .289, with big increase in doubles and triples and decline in homers [4 in May 2 since.]

Morgan is less important to me; I think the other two have a lot more promise. I'm ok with Eli ptiching his 8.20 stuff in the majors since someone has to stay around.

Meanwhile in Akron, Oscar Gonzalez is 2nd in the league in slugging, 3rd in homers, 3rd in RBI, boosted his walks, and deserves a trip to Columbus. He tends to start badly at his new level but let's see him there

Indians representatives on the Hot Prospect Report for last week:

NIL.

On the other hand there were a couple legitimate candidates who have so honored this season:

Logan Allen is his Lake County finale went 6 innings, 6 hits 2 unearned runs 1 walk 9 strikeouts
for the 1/2 season in Class A he finished with 51 1/3 inning 37 hits 13 runs 9 earned 13 walks 67 strikeouts 1.58 ERA 0.97 WHIP 5-0 record
On to Akron for the 1he 6-0 170 lefty. The other Logan Allen may look more like a pitcher but this one seems to be a better pitch.

I guess Will Benson's hot streak stretched around the end of the last week to the start of this so the week doesn't reflect the last few days.
His July numbers are pretty hot: 38/538/846 slash line

Brad Peacock pitched 3 perfect innings tonight for Columbus, fanning 3. only threw 31 pitches.
let's give him 45-50 pitches July 11
July 16 or more likely July 21 he could be ready to join Plesac in the Cleveland rotation

Oscar Gonzalez logically got his promotion to Columbus.

Cody Morris, interesting right hander, who spent the first half on the IL, is now in the Akron rotation. I see he pitched 4 1/3 in the Arizona league which I didn't know was underway, with 12 K. The AZ scores aren't included in the Indians organization reports daily at Minor League Baseball.com. I'll hunt for them elsewhere.
