I'd like to hear our pal Baron's thoughts.
I can agree with all the points the Navy Seal makes about an Armalite Rifle type 15 style for home defense. I own a Daniel Defense variation. They are lightweight, easy to fire, accurate close up and at a distance. It is a very good gun for a home defense rifle with minimal training. Also the "BIG SCARY GUN" factor is prevalent, the intruder in your home doesn't know if you have been using one for half your life or just bought it yesterday.

All that being said I personally don't think there is anything more intimidating than the sound of a shotgun shell being racked out of the dark silence. When I was deployed and my wife was home I left her with a 12 gauge she kept by the bed and a S&W Bodyguard (.380) in her purse. She has shot my DD, isn't scared of it, but feels more secure knowing the with the shotgun she can pretty much point it in the general direction of the intruder and hit him at close range. Little woman, big gun, big noise, big hole in bad guy.

My go to for the middle of the night is my Glock .45 with a flashlight attachment, and a Taurus Judge as my backup.

When it comes to defending my home and family I like to keep my options open.

What it boils down to what an individual is comfortable with, and what they feel they need. Nobody should be limited on their choice of self defense. Nor should they be told how. If all you want is a dog and a baseball bat, then by all means get a dog and a baseball bat. If you want a 12 gauge get one. If you want an AR-15 type rifle get one......

.......while you still can. But thats a different conversation.
Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everyone you meet.

Some random thoughts:

Wondering when Hope Hicks and Bannon will have a serious sit down with Mueller or a grand jury since they refuse to co-operate with the Investigative Committees.

Wondering when trump, Jr, and Kush's turn is coming.

Wondering why Hope Hicks refused to answer questions put forth by the House Intelligence Committee.

Wondering why republicans are protecting the president when he's clearly been a bad influence and could cost a bunch of these guys their jobs.

Wondering why the republican committee members are not engaging these witnesses. Dems getting pi$$ed.

Wondering what are these guys hiding.

Wondering what's up with trump's best people. Thinking its been a disaster!

Wonder why the voters allowed the white house to be infected with a bunch of criminals, abusers, and liars.

Wondering why all the staff is jumping ship or being fired: Omarosa Manigault Newman, Dina Powell, Tom Price, Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, Anthony Scaramucci, Reince Priebus, Michael Short, Sean Spicer, Walter Shaub, Mike Dubke, James Comey, Angella Reid, Michael Flynn, Sally Yates.......and many many more.

Wondering how Kushner had access to all of the homeland's top secrets without a security clearance.

Wondering why Kushner can't get his security clearance.

Wondering if Kushner's been compromised.

Wondering why the press corps puts up with Sanders. She's clearly not qualified for the job. She lies worse than the rug that caps trump's head. Clearly doesn't present anything of consequence. Waste of space!

Wondering what purpose Nepotism serves in a white house......Bad! Clearly, Ivanka, Jared, and Don Jr over their heads and equally unqualified just like their pops. We're being run by a bunch of morons.

Wondering how much trump and family are costing the tax payers with their frequent flyer miles?

Wondering while trump raged in a tweetstorm over Russia, when he was attacking everyone from Obama to Oprah, Jared & Ivanka, on the White House staff, were vacationing in the Caribbean. Was that on the taxpayer's dime?

Wondering why trump changed his mind (oh, that's what he does best) on the age limit for purchasing weapons. Thought he said and also wanted us not to fear the NRA and give them a fight.

Wondering why CPAC speaker Mona Charen was escorted off the stage for her fiery rebuke of Trump and Le Pen. I guess the freedom of speech was challenged. Gotta love Mona for her efforts.

Wondering why someone doesn't explain to Wayne LaPierre that assault weapons are not protected by the 2nd Amendment.

Wondering why trump boasted of saving the Parkland students when the sight of blood disgusts him.

Wondering how the "me to movement", the blue wave, and the Parkland movement will effect the mid terms.

Wondering why officials from four countries discussed exploiting Jared Kushner. Is he naive and being tricked? Lack of experience and business debts?

Wondering how many more enterprises will break ties with the NRA. One By one, companies are cutting ties with the NRA:

First National Bank of Omaha, Enterprise Rent A Car, Allied Van Lines, North American VL, Avis and Budget car rental,
Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental, Hertz, True Car, MetLife Inc, Symantec, Simplisafe, Best Western, Wyndham Worldwide, Delta, United Airlines, Paramount Rx, & Starkey Hearing.

Wondering why Hope Hicks tells white lies......... If they are white lies, why not give it up to the Intel committees. Some how, I don't think Mueller will give a damn.

Wondering why trump has not directed his Intelligence chiefs to stop Russian meddling:

“I can't say I've been specifically directed to blunt or actually stop” Russian influence efforts, NSA Director Mike Rogers replied. Rogers added that he considers it his agency's job to gather intelligence for policymakers rather than act on it ."

Wondering if trump's new campaign manager will be the next candidate to fall - sounds like another criminal nominee.

Just Wondering!

Trump campaign chief lends name to penny stock tied to felon

WASHINGTON (AP) — The political strategist and online guru who was named President Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign manager Tuesday has a close financial relationship with a penny-stock firm with a questionable history that includes longstanding ties to a convicted fraudster, according to an Associated Press investigation.

Brad Parscale, who played a key role in Trump’s 2016 election victory, signed a $10 million deal in August to sell his digital marketing company to CloudCommerce Inc. As part of the deal, Parscale currently serves as a member of California-based company’s management team.

The company touts itself as “a global provider of cloud-driven e-commerce and mobile commerce solutions.” But records reviewed by the AP raise questions about its current financial picture and its rocky past.

CloudCommerce’s operations have not turned a profit in nearly a decade, the records indicate. The company’s most recent quarterly earnings showed it has spent more than $19 million in investor money since its creation nearly two decades ago and has only $107,000 in cash on hand.

And in 2006, a top executive at the company, which was operating under a different name at the time, was caught in an FBI bribery sting and later pleaded guilty to securities fraud. The company said the former executive no longer has any connection to the company, but documents reviewed by the AP indicate he has remained involved in CloudCommerce’s major corporate decisions in recent years.

Parscale did not answer written questions from the AP about what he knew regarding CloudCommerce and its history when he sold his firm to the company and joined its board of directors.

A press release announcing Parscale’s hiring as Trump’s new campaign manager included Eric Trump calling him “an amazing talent” who has the Trump family’s “complete trust.”.......................

Kushner security status reduced, cutting access to secrets

WASHINGTON (AP) — The security clearance of White House senior adviser and presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner has been downgraded, significantly reducing his access to classified information, according to two people informed of the decision.

Kushner had been operating with an interim clearance at the “top secret/sensitive compartmented information” level for more than a year. Now he is authorized to access information only at the lower “secret” level, according to a White House official and a person familiar with the decision, both of whom spoke on condition of anonymity. Neither source was authorized to discuss the decision publicly.

Tuesday’s news set off rampant speculation among Trump allies that Kushner’s days in the White House might be numbered. On the same day, the departure of a third Kushner ally in the West Wing in as many months was announced. And the selection of a Kushner ally to serve as Trump’s 2020 campaign manager appeared to suggest the campaign could provide Kushner with a convenient place to land after his White House duties end......................

[ About time! I equally don't believe trump should be privy to such information ]

Democrats Flip Two State Legislative Seats in CT and NH, Bringing Trump-Era Total to 39

In a state House race in New Hampshire’s Belknap County District 3 and another in Connecticut’s House District 120.

Two Democrats won state legislative contests on Tuesday night, flipping the seats from Republican hands and marking the 38th and 39th legislative flips since President Trump's inauguration. Democrats have now also flipped six this year alone.

Democrat Phil Spagnuolo won a special election in New Hampshire's Belknap County District 3 on Tuesday night 968-841 (54%-46%).

Democrat Phil Young won a contest in Connecticut's state House District 120 as well. The race in House District 120 was a result of a vacancy when former State Rep. Laura Hoydick, a Republican, resigned after becoming mayor of Stratford. It pitted Young against Republican Bill Cabral,

The Democratic flips tonight add to a string of recent victories for the party in state legislative races. Last week, Democrat Linda Belcher won back her seat in Kentucky’s state House District 49,

It was the 37th legislative flip since Trump’s inauguration and the fourth this year, following a win by Margaret Good in Florida’s 72nd District the previous week. There have been additional flips in Missouri and Wisconsin earlier this year as well.

Another race on Tuesday night took place in Kentucky’s state House District 89. Democrat Kelly Smith faced off against Republican Robert Goforth, Goforth prevailed on Tuesday but by a smaller margin of 33 points.

Hope Hicks says working for Trump requires her to tell white lies

White House communications director Hope Hicks told members of the House Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that she is sometimes required to tell white lies as part of her work for President Trump, according to The New York Times.

Hicks reportedly made the statement during a lengthy testimony before the committee as part of its investigation into Russia’s inference in the 2016 election.

Hicks also told the panel, after speaking with her lawyers, that she hasn’t lied about anything related to the Russia probe, sources familiar with her testimony told the Times.

As part of her testimony, Hicks declined to answer some questions from the committee about Trump’s presidential transition or her time in the White House. Hicks didn’t invoke executive privilege during her testimony.
Rep. Adam Schiff (Calif.), the top Democrat on the committee, told reporters Tuesday that once Hicks got the green light from the White House she answered "many" questions about the Trump transition period.

But Hicks continued to refuse to answer questions about the administration as well as "key events such as the fabrication of that statement about the Trump Tower meeting,” according to Schiff.

Schiff slammed Hicks for refusing to answer some questions, calling it “executive stonewalling.”

Hicks played a key role during the campaign and transition periods, including the highly scrutinized Trump Tower meeting in June 2016.

She reportedly helped draft Donald Trump Jr.’s initial misleading statement about his meeting with a Russian lawyer. The president's eldest son said the meeting centered around Russian adoptions, while it later became known that he attended the meeting after being promised dirt about Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Hicks has also met with special counsel Robert Mueller as well as the Senate Intelligence Committee as part of their separately-led Russia probes.

I suppose most members of this forum have a choice of neighborhood where they live. My neighborhood in RI is suburban that has neighbors that watch each others property. I have owned the house for 45 years and have never had a burglary let alone a home invasion. None of my neighbors, as far as I know, have either.

I have never owned a gun.

I have no need for one.

I have baseball bats but they're in the garage, not by my bedside.

I have no problem if people think they need some form of home protection. Keep it away from children. Know what you're shooting at if you fire the weapon. There are many cases of people accidently shooting relatives in dark rooms.

Wondering if you guys with all the home protection guns have ever been in a situation where you needed it or they just make you sleep better knowing they're there.

Re: Politics

Seagull, when I was growing up it was never a thought either. Grew up in an area where you didn’t even lock your doors. But right before I moved out of the area drugs started getting real bad. Lots of Home robberies began. Huntington, WV and southern Ohio where I grew up is now horrible. I mentioned the other day, the National Guard has been called in to Huntington to help combat the drug problem and violence it’s causing. Just crazy.

Then I moved to Detroit and my wife’s family had bars on their windows. Nuff said...

Then I moved to Montana and the meth problem was real bad here. You have to be really desperate to rob a home in Montana, Everyone owns guns. But they do it.

I keep the shotgun by my bed for me. And I work a lot of nights so I bought a couple small pistols for my wife too. I drag her to the range with me once a year or so just to make sure she remembers what she’s doing. I just feel better leaving her of a night know she has dogs to warn her and something to protect her.

Re: Politics

Thanks Baron. Always love to hear from our men who have served and have more experience.

Looks like you and I agree on a lot. I originally bought my wife a .357 for Home defense but she didn’t like it. Little too much pop. It would hurt her wrist when she’d shoot it a few times at range. So I bought her a S&W Bodyguard 380 with laser sights. Nothing more intimidating than the click of a shotgun but having a laser sight pointed at your chest can be quite a deterrent as well...

I also got her a Colt Mustang 380 for her purse and car.

I have a short Benelli 12 gauge that a put a bigger tube and flashlight on. Love it.

Good seeing you. Post from time to time.

I mentioned days ago that I follow a journalist from Sweden because he reports a lot of the problems the massive Muslim migrant influx is causing there. (and all over Europe)

Here is a couple examples from this week alone.

A few days ago a muslim man stabbed a Swedish woman to her death. He stabbed her 100 times. Literally, a hundred. Police described the obvious, a brutal grizzly scene. ... Why did he do it? Because she was playing her music too loud. ... I'm dead serious.

This morning he is reporting a story of a muslim man that had previously stabbed a 55 year old Swedish woman and her 28 year old son to death in an Ikea store. The killer was asked today about what happened and he replied, "shit happens".

I cannot make this stuff up guys. And I am reading these stories all the time from Sweden, Belgium, Britain, Germany, etc. I can start sharing more with you if anybody cares.

I became enraged last year of a story in Idaho. A mentally handicapped 5 year old girl was fondled by one boy and then pissed on by two young muslim boys. One from Sudan and one from Iraq. An old lady living in the apartment complex stumbled upon the act, called police and filmed the incident. Boys got a slap on the wrist, then the family of the little girl was bullied and threatened by the muslim kids family members. Local authorities did everything they could to keep the story from getting out and still have not released all the info. (because they're juveniles)

I cannot imagine if that had been my little girl or one of the many kids or mentally handicapped I have worked with through the years. I get enraged again now just thinking about it.

I am a firm believer in America, the melting pot. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free". I love when people want to come to America for freedom or opportunities. As long as they do it LEGALLY.

But I have to say, I think we need to be extremely careful about muslim asylum seekers and migrants. There is the obvious fear that among them some radicals are going to sneek in. But I also have grave concerns that they can assimilate to the Western way of life. I wonder if they even want to. In European communities they are literally taking over neighborhoods and doing what they want there. Their M.O. seems to be take over a local area. Local laws be damned, they live by their own.

I know many Arabic people have come here and been productive citizens. Many of our great doctors and scientists. My wife and I personally know some. But a lot of these guys man, I just don't know.

Former President Obama says his White House "didn't have a scandal that embarrassed us"

.

Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata & the soldiers who died searching for traitor Bowe Bergdahl were unavailable for comment. As was Hillary's server.

He should be happy the vast majority of the media carried water for him and didn't care to look into the scandals. And what he should be proud of was having a group around him that he could trust to keep their mouth shut. He did do a great job in that regard. He learned well from the Clinton's.

Seagull, just so you know ... From The Hill ...

..

Rasmussen Reports says it was the closest of all major pollsters in predicting the presidential election’s popular vote, pointing to final results posted by RealClearPolitics.

On its final poll released Nov. 7, the day before Election Day, Rasmussen had Hillary Clinton up 2 points on Donald Trump. Clinton won the popular vote by 1 percentage point, even though Donald Trump beat her on electoral votes.

No other pollster tracked by RealClearPolitics came as close to the final results.

"The media created a false narrative about the 2016 presidential campaign, and most polling reinforced it," Rasmussen wrote on its website Thursday. "Our polling showed that issues, not the media-fed controversies, would ultimately decide the election."

..

I will also point out that while at this point in his presidency Obama was just at 43 he spent most of his presidency around the 50 point mark in Rasmussen's Daily Tracker. And finished at a very good 62 approval at the end. (people were so happy he was leaving! LOL)

The Rasmussen poll, which surveys 500 likely voters by telephone, tends to give Trump higher approval ratings than other polls and has long been more favorable to Republicans. Earlier this week, a CNN poll conducted by the survey and market research firm SSRS found that approval for the president was at just 35 percent, matching “his lowest level yet.”
