Monday is the day of rest for all leagues bar one this season; then they play 6 game series against one opponent

After a splendid collective first week our teams continue to plunge; Columbus lost its 9th in a row; Lake County is now far below 500.
Two of the most exciting hitters are out with injuries: Valera as usual; and Jhonkensy Noel who had a league leading power start to the season with Lynchburg. Most consistent hitters now are Jose Tena at Lake County and Angel Martinez at Lynchburg, both naturally middle infielders.
Another excellent start yesterday by the X man, Xzavion Curry, for Lynchburg yesterday. An awful one for Hunter Gaddis in Lake County. Why not flip assignments? Or at least send Curry to Lake County to join many other college pitchers drafted in 2020?

BA gives Xman a shout out on their Top 20 performers report as well as Bo the Bro of Josh
Xzavion Curry, Low-A Lynchburg (Indians)—The 2019 seventh-rounder did not pitch after signing, but he hasn't missed a beat in his first pro season. Curry struck out six and walked none over 5.1 innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits to earn his third win of 2021. The 22-year-old righthander is 3-0, 1.07 with 38 strikeouts and four walks in 25.1 innings.
Bo Naylor, Double-A Akron (Indians)—After recording just seven hits in 56 at-bats in May, [including 1 for his last 26] Naylor went 2-for-4 in the first day of the new month, including hitting his first triple of the season. The 2018 first-rounder hit .243/.313/.421 with 18 doubles, 10 triples and 11 home runs at Low-A Lake County in 2019.

29year old picked up to fill out the rotation with Mejia and Morgan in Cleveland; Logan Alllen in the garage for a major tuneup.
30year old Matt Koch starts today.
Pen includes 35 year old Blake Parker
Also added 27 year old Heath Fillmyer.
I see that Gose who has been awful is now on the injured list.
Various other crummy minor league vets.
Nothing left here to be looking forward to besides Moss if he improves greatly; Kirk McCarty if he throws hard enough for the majors.
Probably more likely to see Mikoljchak who is on Akron reach Cleveland this summer than much of the Clippers roster.
This may perhaps account [along with the lack of hitting] for the 8-16 record

only guys not rained out are the Hillcats. Lynchburg scoreless in the 6th.
OK Korey Holland returns; started out 6-17 the hurt.
The shutout pitching by Daniel Espino 5 6 0 0 4 5 . Throw in two wild pitches and a balk. That was a pretty bad 5 shutout innings.
Forget to mention yesterday Planez hit 2 homers and plated 5 for the Hillcats

Friday:
As usual the Clippers were destroyed, 10-3. Bradley had 2 singles and his FIRST double arning a return to Cleveland. Some ancient pitcher named Koch allowed 6 in 3 innings. And lost again 5-2 behind another FA pickup Heath Fillmyer. Mercado had 3 hits and Bradley's homer if he is lucky the last ever of his minor league career. In case anyone wonders why D Johnson remains in AAA it may be his 185 average
Akron split a pair 2-8 and 6-0 Rare 0-3 both Freeman and Palacios in game 1. Benson fanned 3 times. 7 runs 6 earned off Shane McCarthy
Tom Ponticelli with 5 shutout innings in game 2. Oscar Gonzalez 7th homer and a single; 291 888 OPS
Player of the day: 2nd round pick in 2020 Tanner Burns 6 4 0 0 0 6
Rocchio HR 3 Bracho single and walk. nonpower hitting 1b Joe Naranjo 2 singles
0-2 shutout of Lynchburg despite 6 good innings by J. Jones. J Noel has returned from injury after a great start.
After a terrible start SS Y Valdes keeps his hitting streak alive with a single

2 and 2 on Saturday wins for Akron and Lynchburg
closer than usual for Columbus, 2-3. Scott Moss returns with 3 ok 1 run innings 6 K. Nolan Jones a double; Mercado a triple.
for Akron Richie Palacios single double and walk: don't overlook him, plays all over the iF and some OF. doubles for Freeman Naylor Benson
Nick Mikolajchak with his 4th save on 1 2/3 perfect innings.
4-15 loss by Lake County. Nick Coulter spot start 10 runs in less than 2 innings. Even worse than Quantrill today.
2 hits each by 2019 top picks IF's Cairo [a double] and Valdes [his first double his first triple] J Rod on the DL.
Nice bounce back by Josh Wolf, 4 shutout innings.
