lake County lost 4-3, record now 11-8

Only multi hit day was by Will Brennan again. He's at 364, 987 OPS, hit his 8th double; 8h round pick 2019; age 23 makes him much older than most of his teammates and the same age as Josh Naylor

Hunter Gaddis on the mound 4 3 3 3 1 7

Would not surprise me to see Gimenez back up to the big club at some point soon.

In the meantime, like Jim Bowden said in another folder, might we not showcase Amed Rosario (he really is a major league caliber hitter if you watch the games) to a team needing a SS for a starting pitcher?

Although these days EVERYONE needs healthy starters.

Akron had a big lead but a new guy allowed 5 in the 9th, rescued by Nick Mikolajchak with his 3rd save and still spotless ERA, 16K in 8 2/3 kind of Karinchak territory.

Forgotten OF Oscar Gonzalez with his 6th homer and 2 singles; hitting 328 974 OPS
Highly consistent Tyler Freeman singled, doubled and walked hitting 364/ 951 OPS
a bit of inconsistency: in his first 7games he drew 2 walks and uncharacteristically struck out 9 times
since then, in 8 games, he's taken 3 walks and hasn't struck out once.

Tanner Tully was hit hard and Columbus lost big.

https://www.milb.com/gameday/sounds-vs- ... ame=650162

Nolan Jones 3 K give him 31 for the season; he has 12 walks; and a total of 70 at bats. which means in 27 of them he has put the ball in play and has 10 hits.

He;s tied for the 2nd in the league in strikeouts; tied for 7th in strikeouts

Fantasy site:

Indians LHP prospect Logan Allen didn’t allow a run over six innings of work for High-A Lake County on Wednesday.

Yes, Cleveland has two Logan Allens in their organization. Yes, this is going to get confusing.

The younger Allen was the 56th pick of the 2020 draft out of Florida International, and he’s posted a 0.83 ERA and 27/4 K/BB ratio in his four starts thus far.

He has a low 90s sinking fastball to keep hitters honest, but the pitch to watch here is a change that gets plus grades along with a solid-average curve. The stuff plays up because he commands those pitches well, and walks shouldn’t ever be an issue.

Ok Gimenez tearing it up in AAA has to be soooo welcome to the front office. Oh and Zimmer rising from the dead would be almost as good. Columbus box:

This was Logan Jr's third shutout performance in 4 starts; he could catch up with his namesake by the end of the season; Sr. is a mess and has been shut down at least for awhile

Good night for Espino too. 4 4 1 2 7 2.60 25K in 17 2'/3

His teammate Angel Martinez continues to hit well: his first homer and a single and a walk 289 OPS 937
His teammate 1B Will Brennan too; 3 run homer, his 3rd 302/ 1016 19 year old 2020 draft pick

Zimmer has been a pleasant surprise; his first homer yesterday and a single;
Meanwhile Nolan Jones overmatches his 1 single with 3 more strikeouts

the superconsistent Tyler Freeman double, single walk and once again no strikouts; that makes 10 games K-free 375 983 OPS
like Zimmer, 1st round draft choice OF Will Benson is looking better 4th homer 2nd double and 16th walk. Batting average remains low at 216 but 412 On Base Pct and 519 Slugging average

after a great first week or two our teams are now losing more often than not, 1-4 record last night with Akron dropping 2.

some other notes not on the BA list

Oscar Mercao 0-3 walk 2 k
it was a bullpen game with most of their starters now on the Indians

RH McCarthy for Akron 4 2/3 4 2 2 1 6 2.80
RH Mikolajchak allowed his first run, the automatic extra inning runner so got the loss and ERA still 0
Game 2: promoted Misiaszek 1 1.3 5 4 4 1 0 was great for Lake County, big game pressure I guess
some really awful pitcher Wisely 2/3 3 1 1 0 1 ERA plunges to 40.50

Ray Burgos pitches every Thursday for LC; his worst of the year: 2 2/3 8 4 3 1 1 5.59

Only Lynchburg won

Everyone lost last night; promotions have thinned out Columbus pitching dramatically but that's not the excuse for the rest of the newly found ineptitude.

Columbus lost 13-9. Clippers scored 9 runs in one inning on 3 hits and a ton of walks.
Nolan Jones with his first 2 hit night, one a double; but the two outs were strike outs as usual.
Kirk McCarthy with his worst start, limiting his chances for a call up [which would require removing someone from the 40 man roster] 5 8 5 7 2 6
4 home runs allowed.

Akron rained out

Lake County lost 1-2. OK start by No. 2 2020 draft pick Tanner Burns: 5 3 2 1 1 4 solo homer
Joe Naranjo 2 hits, Jose Tena double

Lynchburg lost 0-4. Angel Martinez and Johnnathan Rodriguez as usual with hits.

Columbus filling their rotation with veterans. Matt Koch a 30 year old starts today. Career ERA 5.10. Excited to have him
Akron using a pair of lefties: Eli Lingos and Juan Hillman, the latter a high draft pick who's doing OK but lacks a real out pitch or many strikeouts
Starters in class A not announced

Scott Moss will return to the mound today for Columbus. Hasn't been too good or too bad, then sat awhile with back pain.
Tom Ponticelli for Akron
TBD for the A teams
