MLB today lists each team's "best pure hitter" among prospects. Ours is pretty obvious, he's hit at every level and is a couple years younger than Miller:

Indians: Tyler Freeman, SS (No. 2/MLB No. 82)
A 2017 supplemental second-round pick from a California high school, Freeman won the short-season New York-Penn League batting title (.352) in 2018 and has struck out in just 9 percent of his pro at-bats. His outstanding bat-to-ball skills have translated into a .348/.400/.435 line in Double-A this year.

Valera is usually hurt. I bet next year he'll be described as one of the really exiting prospects who missed 2021 but really has a ton of promise.

LC and LYN are getting blasted by nearly as much as the major leaguers.

Lynchburg down 9-4. None of the bad pitching was by any prospects. At bat Will Bartlett a 1B with single and 2nd homer, hitting 375/1175
SS Y Valdes with 2 hits, avg up to 139

Lake County trails 8-2 Tanner Burns, out top pitcher in last year's draft with a clunker: 4 2/3 7 5 5 1 3
Raynal Delgado 1st homer; another Will, this one Brennan a CF, with a single and 2 walks, 349/960

Better pitching at the higher levels
Akron down 2-1
RH Shane McCarthy 5 2 2 2 3 3 too many walks up and down the organization tonight

Columbus ahead 1-0 in the 7th.
Daniel Johnson's 2nd homer; 244/806
Miller in LF today, has a single in 3.
Nolan Jones and 2 K again.
Zimmer walk and 4th steal. No more power, but he can still run
Eli Morgan 6 2 0 0 2 6 He's not really ready for the majors either, but they could give him a try but he also needs at least a half a year in AAA as does McKenzie and Hentges.

Maybe they told him to stop whiffing and swinging for the fences with that speed.

Player of the night was, once again, Jhonkensy Noel, for the second time in the three weeks of play he had a 2 homers, 1 double game; he batted in 4 and drew a walk; He now is in a tie for the league lead in homers; leads in doubles; and but for his unwillingness to walk would be on top in OPS 311/328/656

In a wild and crazy game, Hillcats won 14-13 in 13 innings. They trailed 9-0. Caught up. Other guys scored in the 9th and 10th and 11th and 12th and Lynchburg matched them each time.

Catcher Yainer Diaz with 3 singles including the game winning hit; he hit singles only his avg is 347 OPS 793
Johnnathan Rodriguez with a single double walk and one of the game-tying hits; 340/407/490
y Valdes 3 hits.

Reliever Andrew Misiaszek charged with the unearned runs in the 10th 11th and 12th so his line is 3 3 3 0 0 4 as the assigned runner scored each time.

lake County heading to loss #7 against 10 wins, down 12-1! Lefty Matt Turner was bad, not helped by a couple errors or 3 home runs 4 6 8 4 1 4

lynchburg [12-4] off to a big lead 9-0.
Jason Wolf, RH from the Mets 4 2 0 0 2 3
Hottest of the Hot Jhonkeys Noel 4 2 4 3, all singles today; now at 354 with 1045 OPS
Y Valdes is beginning to his, single and walk
C Melendez 3 run homer
JRod double and rbi.
A Martinez walk and no errors

Akron [10-5] doing even better, up 11-0
Lingos, I don't think he's a prospect, in the 5th inning of a shutout'
Bo Naylor 2 run homer, his first; Will Benson 2 run homer, his second, Tyler Freeman solo homer his first. Freeman also his 3rd double. Richie Palacios his third and his fourth doubles and a walk; Oscar Gonzalez two singles

Columbus wins 5-3; they;re an even 8-8
Not quite sure what to make with Kyle McCarty, 5-10 lefty, he's the only starter NOT on the 40 man roster and not on any prospect lists. Yet he pitches their opener and is now 3-0 2.66 went 7 solid innings: 7 5 2 2 1 7
Gose was wild again
At the bat: Bobby B with 2 homers, that makes 6, both solo. Zimmer is hot, really he is, double single 2 walks Giminez two singles.
Nolan Jones with a hit, which is good, and 3 strikeouts which is not

since his 1-17 start Zimmer is now 12-33 with 7 walks; that means an OBP of 475

Freeman is one step behind Miller; both really solid hitters; Freeman is on everyone's Top 100 prospects list. Set an NYPL record for doubles a couple years back. I've assumed he would be our 2nd baseman starting in 2022. He and Miller may have to fight for the job. Miller meanwhile is miles ahead of Nolan Jones for part time at 1st base; note he's also had a LF start lately.

Saturday's top performers:

Indians: Tyler Freeman, SS (MLB No. 82), Double-A Akron
Bobby Bradley, 1B (No. 18), Triple-A Columbus
Freeman was coming off snapping a nine-game hitting streak, and potentially started a new one in style. The second-ranked Indians prospect went 3-for-4 with his first homer of the year, a double, a walk and two runs scored. Freeman led off the first with a double down the line in left, found the seats for a solo shot with a laser to left in the fourth and punched a two-out single the same way in the fifth. The 22-year-old is sporting a .358/.424/.509 slash line with five extra-base hits, eight RBIs and six runs scored this season.

Bradley is widely known for his massive power and he put it on display once again with a two-homer performance for Columbus. The 24-year-old slugger hit solo blasts in the second and eighth innings on his way to a 3-for-4, three-RBI afternoon. Bradley, a third-round pick from the 2014 Draft, now has 16 multihomer games in his career and six homers on the season.
