Lineup is now distinctly younger than when the season started with Mercado and Bradley in and Martin and HRamirez/Gonzalez out.
The position players are now are either all:
1. Indians signed and developed: Perez, Bradley, Kipnis, Lindor, Ramirez, Naquin.
2. Indians acquired as minor leaguers and completed development: Santana [then lost and regained], Mercado.
3. Indians acquired after a short major league opportunity elsewhere and developed at major league level: Freeman [82 AB], Bauers [323 AB], Luplow [170 AB].
4. Plawecki, 703 AB with the Mets.
Might all fall apart again, I suppose, but it's looking like a nice effort at re-development without dismantling

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Twins "are showing strong interest" in Madison Bumgarner.
Nightengale notes that the Twins are not on Bumgarner's no-trade list, although dealing Mad Bum to a team that is on his no-trade list isn't expected to be a major obstacle. The veteran left-hander has had only a so-so season with a 4.21 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 104/24 K/BB ratio across 102 2/3 innings.
He is coming off one of his best outings of the year, having fanned a season-high 11 Rockies on Tuesday. Adding Bumgarner to their postseason rotation would be a big move for the Twins even if he's not the ace he used to be.

Translate those numbers to American League and can't say I'm all that scared. I hope that's the best they can do.

Danny Salazar (shoulder) is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the AZL soon.
Salazar has been throwing side sessions in the Indians' spring training facility this month, but did have a setback early in June in his recovery from shoulder surgery. This likely will be a bit of a longer rehab assignment that requires a couple of appearances, but there's a good chance that he's back with the Indians around the All-Star break, at the latest.

Really?? the All star game is in 13 days. Assuming that Iron Man Danny does not have another "setback" which is pretty unlikely, and if he's going to get into a few games during his longer than minimal rehab stay, how could be back "around the All Star break, "at the latest"? Perhaps they're referring to the NBA all star break.

As I have made clear to an extreme I don't think much of Danny Salazar's commitment to rehab. He probably likes the $4,500,000 he earns for tossing gently on the sidelines. With the occasional time off for setbacks.

Clevinger activated to start tonight.
Jose Ramirez placed on paternity list. Yu Chang promoted to big club in his place.

Whoa! Don't know what to think of this. If Jose has been working about Jose Jr. that could explain a lot.

I agree - who knows if maybe it's been a rough ride pregnancy? Hmmmm

Speaking of rough rides ... Danny Salazar is throwing 35 pitches in Goodyear today, and is then being shipped out to either Akron or Columbus for a rehab stint. They expect his stint will take a bit though, but expect him in about a month.
Set your clocks by it!

Hey, maybe Salazar comes back and has some promising outings and they can TRADE him!
