Every team has these kind of issues. It is part of the business.

Geez, guys we draft are cursed!

I hear you rusty but that amount of high draft picks being that injury prone is some disproportionately bad luck.

That said, those things do even out....over time that is.

Chisenhall, Naquin, and Aiken could all end up out of baseball soon due to injuries. (Chisenhall injured for Pirates now. Teams aren’t going to keep signing these guys)

Zimmer and McKenzie have had injury issues too.

I’m not saying all teams don’t have injuries. I’m just saying when you are a small market team you can’t afford to lose half your 1st round picks the last 10 years to injuries. Especially when you’ve traded off a few of your others, like Pomeranz, Frazier, and Sheffield.

Lindor is really the only hit they’ve had since Sabathia, 20 years ago! (Story to be told on recent guys of course) Every year you can point to stuff like, they drafted Alex White instead of Mike Trout.

This team stinks at drafting and have had some bad luck. Thankfully they are good at trading.

Yeah, but most of us don't have 100 years to wait.

we've been doing a good job with second round picks lately. Should expect good results from Nolan Jones and Tyler Freeman. And we've done well with late round picks like Cody Allen. Number One picks are not our speciality

then again I took at look at the second round picks and before McKenzie, who could pan out, the previous three were real big dud pitchers: Mitch Brown, Dace Kime and the illustrious Dillon Howard who took the money and ran before he ever reached full season A.

So yes, our draft results have been really lousy overall.

You mentioned McKenzie as a 2nd rounder. He was a collective balance pick, between 1st and 2nd. But I think those are technically considered 1st round selections. Neither here nor there, but technically I think they are.

Your're right; I meant our second pick for all those guys I cited, or that was my idea at least

Neil R had his typical hot spell last summer, followed by his typical falling off. He'll reemerge in the majors a couple more times I'm sure.

The bullpen is looking surprisingly solid with Clippard and Cimber and Wittgren in front of Hand. Oliver P is getting somewhat more reliable. Olsen iffy. And who's the last guy, I'm overlooking? Edwards remains the "next guy" available in Columbus. While Karinchak hasn't returned to the Clippers yet he's not supposed to miss much time and should be ready for promotion this summer. Sandlin is solid with Akron and is sure to reach AAA very soon and be ready for the major leagues this year in all likelihood.

Francona also said today that Clevinger has been throwing fastballs and changeups. And he will throw a couple more bullpen sessions then head out for a minor league rehab assignment.

Looks like we might have called this one.

Clev should be back the first day eligible including rehab starts before he gets activated.
