And more possible good news ...

Clevinger threw from 60 feet 3 days ago. From 60 feet 2 days ago. Had a day off yesterday. Then threw from 90 feet today.

They said he was throwing at 60%, but damn it looked more than that. Looked almost full bore. Hope he doesn't over-do it.

But as of now he has progressed faster than originally thought, and he could be starting for the Indians in 4 weeks.

Cross fingers...

Tribe just purchased utility man Adam Rosales from the Twins. He's back.

Twins thought so much of him they gave him to their chief competitor for a little cash.

He's a lifetime .226 hitter.

But good news is he has played every position on the field except catcher. He has even pitched. Although as perfect as Plawecki is at that we probably won't need him on the bump.

Actually he is going to be assigned to Columbus.

Paul Hoynes who doesn't check into the minors folder, apparently, wrote that Anderson has been stretched out to "4 or 5 innings" in Columbus. Well, first of all, it was either 4 or 5, right? He could let un know. Well, actually it was 3.

Danny Salazar Suffers shoulder setback

May 4, 2019
Salazar will be shut down for a few days with a shoulder setback, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Salazar has been throwing bullpens for over a month, but something didn't feel right after his most recent one. He visited with the doctor who performed his shoulder surgery last June and has been told to back off for now. He remains without a clear timeline to return to the field.

Noting that Kipnis does not seem to be making significant contributions to the offense, I took a look at his stats and find that over his last 10 games he has posted these stunning numbers: 26 at bats 1 hit no runs no rbi 1 walk 6 strikeouts 038/074/038. What a totally worthless $14M second baseman. Recollect what Brian or was it Brad Miller said when they shipped him and his 250 average away?

footnote: Kipnis is actually hitting .500 with Runners in Scoring Position: 3 hits in 6 AB. Perhaps the most interesting that reveals is how rarely we have runners in scoring position. that means 46 times at bat without anyone in scoring position.

When we add Anderson and Rodriguez, 2 guys get shipped out, if Tito wants an 8 man pen, that means Freeman or Moroff probably goes. I hope that the one reliever who's optioned out is not Edwards. He's nothing special but Perez and Ramirez have both been very bad. 4 homers off Ramirez in relief ties for the team lead. Perez has had trouble retiring anyone. I suppose that they don't have options and yes they had their moments last year. Both have moments off and moments on throughout their careers. Another option to option is Olson and he probably still has options and hasn't been much better than Perez as a second lefty in the pen.

Oliver Perez had a nice season last year and is a vet, but I fear his smoke and mirrors act is aging out.

Regarding Kipnis. When you extend guys like this team did, it ain't all going to work. Kluber, Carrasco, JRam turned out to be absurd bargains for what they've been paid on extensions - and Carrasco even added on. You can't hit them all and Kipnis has been a miss.

But overall it's been crazy successful. And looks like the refusal to extend Cody and Miller might also be correct.

Here's a big move:

Minnesota Twins traded 2B Adam Rosales to Cleveland Indians for cash.
Clippers were getting a little thin in the infield, with Krieger and Mathias both forced to play regularly. [could bean that they know that Freeman will be released and likely to get picked up by someone else]

Nothing at Indians.com on the major league roster move yet.

Cody Anderson has been recalled and Max Moroff has been designated for assignment.

And as I posted yesterday, Rosales is being sent directly to Columbus. But he may end up coming up soon to replace Moroff?

I assume that they'll just go with Freeman as the one utility IF. Tito has his full bullpen now and will have to sacrifice one of them for his next move to add Rodriguez

I just hope Rodriguez can continue his steady pitching for us. If so, that ends up being a huge acquisition since our other options are completely pathetic.

I still say we need to reach below AAA - other teams do it.
