3 hit game for Nolan Jones, back up to 256 and OPS 828 in AA

Bracho's first two hits for the Scrappers included a homerun and he walked twice in his 4 at bats in game 1. 0-3 in the nightcap

Lynchburg and Cody Morris are being clobbered. 7=2 in the 4th. Tyler Freeman with his 16th Carolina League double, and 31st of the season. [Last year he hit 29 in only 270 at bats setting an NYPL season record). Benson's shot at 200 is gone; 0-2 today puts him at 185. At least that's better than his 180 in his first go at Lake County last year. On the other hand his 590 OPS is 100 points lower than his first try in the Midwest League; his return to Lake County yielded an OPS of 974 for half a season this year.

Rocchio with another homer for the Scrappers; 4 of them since August 18. coming in to today he was 14 for his last 45, 2 doubles and 3 homers, adding in today's homer in his first AB his SLG over that stretch is 630. And don't forget he has played the season at age 18; and he's 5-10 150.

well I just spent 10 minutes writing game updates and highlighting some top notch performances by Rocchio and Bracho, Hunter Gaddis; and others and the computer lost the whole post. Not in the mood to retype the whole thing but here's some of my comments:

Scrappers win big behind: Rocchio homer and single; JohnRod 3 singles; Aaraon Bracho homer and walk [for the summer at 2 levels: 160 TAB, 28 walks, 11 doubles, 2 triples,, 8 homers; he makes my Tribe Top 10 and expect him to soar next summer if he stays healthy; Hunter Gaddsi 6-6 RH in his last 3 games, cumulative: 9 innings, 1 hit, no runs, no walks, 17 strikeouts. Is the next college pinpoint control artist ready to race through the minors?

Benson 2 hits can reach 200 tomorrow with a 2-2 or 3-4 game. Don't hold your breath.

Mathias 11th homer; Tom 2 walks; Bradley singe and walk; Clement debuted yesterday 3-4 in AAA, today 1-3 with 2 rib.

More to say but the computer will probably eat this so I will post before that happens.

game updates:

Columbus up 7-0 in the 4th. Mathias disappointed Flaherty got the callup hits his 11th homer; Bradley will be up after the AAA season I guess, singles and walks; Tom 2 walks; Johnson not in the lineup; We could stand Tom and/or Johnson in Cleveland. Ernie Clement debuted her yesterday 3-4; has a single in 3 trips today and 2 rbi.
6-6 lefty Scott Moss continues to look really good; 3 shutout innings, he's at 2.04 with the Clippers.

Danny Salazar the "opener" for Akron, went 1 scoreless inning. Kyle Dowdy who's been looking good since he returned to the organization now taking over. Nothing on the board yet for the Ducks in 3 innings.
Eli Morgan with his best start in 4 weeks yesterday; 6 shutout innings, 7 hits, no walks, 5 K. Finishes up 9-6 3.39 at three levels.

Hillcats final score a 10-3 loss; Benson took the ribbing and managed two singles to move up to 192. Added his 9th Carolina League steal.
If Will can go 2-2 or 3-4 tomorrow he can reach the prized Mendoza line.
Lefty Skyler Arias with another 1 1/3 scoreless 2 K; ERA 1.42.

rain in Eastlake cancels the Captains penultimate game.

Scrappers win the opener 11-1 led by a bunch of their teenage bats:
Rocchio single as well as the aforementioned 5ht homer; he's at 254/693 OPS.
Rodriguez 2 singles; 247/742
Aaron Bracho 2nd homer and a walk. 167/744. Bracho's peripheral stats are outstanding: at AZL and NYPL he totaled 160 plate appearances; he drew 28 walks; hit 11 doubles, 2 triples, 8 home runs. Another 18 year old; total OPS is 982. If he can stay healthy he's the breakout player of 2020.
solid pitching again by 6-6 RH Hunter Gaddis: combined total for his last 3 outings: 9 innings, no runs, one hit, no walks, 17 strikeouts. Our next pinpoint control starter ready to race through the minors.

So this is sort of what I reposted when this disappeared but I'll save it again since I don't what is posting and what is disappearing. I'll shut down and try again tomorrow

Checking the list of callups for September for kids who started with the Indians' organization or have hung out with the Tribe:

Abraham Almonte for the Dbacks
IF Sam Haggerty to the Mets Tribe 24th round pick, is still only 25. Don't see what in his stats inspired the callup, he's a pretty good baserunner maybe that's it.
That's it. Maybe more after the AAA seasons formally end.

end of season revised Top 100 by BA moves Jones up a few places to 46; Freeman up 11 spots to 70; McKenzie most of the way out to 83; Valera just behind at 85

4 in the top 100 is pretty decent showing although we obviously lack anyone currently considered at top notch sure thing big deal star on the horizon.
But some of the under 20's still boast that potential

I'd certainly rank Hankins ahead of McKenzie as well as Naylor Rocchio quite possibly Bracho and Espino and Bradley. Maybe McK would still edge onto to our Top 10, maybe not. It would help his cause if he ever pitched.

By the way Tyler Trammell the guy Padres needed to obtain in the Puig Reyes Allen Moss Nova trade slipped from 39 to 50.

Indians Prospective is posting tons of stats today.

This stat is a comparison of player's run-scoring versus league average adjusted for the playing field. 100 is league average. Lots of prospects on that list. Benson does surprisingly well.

FIP Fielding Independent Pitching converts a pitcher's three true outcomes into an earned run average-like number.

Excellent - Roy Halladay 2.17
Great - David Price 3.36
Average - Tim Stauffer 4.00
Poor - Carlos Zambrano 4.56
Horrendous - Bronson Arroyo 5.68

Not sure who most are except for Karinchak 1.19 and Broom

season's over so we're into to prospect chats:

Elliot (Youngstown OH): The Indians have had great success developing control artist starters [Bieber most prominently along with Plesac and Civale]. 5th rounder Hunter Gaddis posted first year stats that make me wonder if he could develop as quickly and as successfuly; 33 innings, 7 walks, 53 strikeouts, 24 hits.
Justin Coleman: I like Gaddis. He is up to 95, flashes the good secondary stuff at times. Lots of strikes but more on the max effort side. Delivery is a bit wild as well.

Elliot (Youngstown OH): The Indians challenged a batch of their teenagers in 2019. Statistically the results for Bo Naylor, George Valera and Brayan Rocchio were not stellar but I was impressed with their results against older competition. Was BA?

Justin Coleman: All three had solid seasons. Saw Valera and Rocchio in person, liked them both. Rocchio looks like an everyday SS, Valera a corner guy who has some power.
