The TV people are in charge of too much of the scheduling details. But, they are forking over the big bucks, so they get to call the shots.
By the way, all this crap you hear about "wanting to speed up the game" is also coming from the TV people, though ButtheadSelig & Co. are so far willing to cover for them.

3 homers in 2012 by Don Johnson, all in game NO. 162. Last done in 1902 in the Federal League by Zebulon Masters for Utica.

Went to both Tuesday nite & Wednesday nite games. Before the Wed game when I saw the lineups, I made a comment that the Indians didn't want to win Wed nite. Better put as the Indians weren't even close to wanting to win the last game as ChiSox did. But I didn't think it would be that bad. Was impressed with Seddon. He looks more like maybe a spot starter in that he uses the Wind up in stead of the stretch with no one on. Actually has a decent move to keep runners close. Were most of our regulars already gone on their annual vacation a day early? Couldn't believe Hafner was tipping his cap to the crowd. It did look like the Chi pitcher might have grooved one for him & he popped up the 1st pitch. Most interesting thing that happened Tuesday nite was Hafner pinch hitting for Marson. Thought we were going to lose the DH as Santana was in that role. But, no, the great utility guy Vinnie Rotino caught the last 3 innings. Hats off to him as the previous game that we went to, he made that catch that the umpire ended up reversing his call. Then led off the Indians half & got a double. "Wait til next year. my prediction is ----------76 wins.-------------------even if they do nothing more than find a bat or two.

That's the earliest prediction for Next Year I've ever seen!
Our offense is not the key; we had better offense than Oakland this year. And Brantley-Kipnis-Choo-Santana-Chisenhall-Cabrera is an OK start to a lineup. There are lots of LF,1B and DH's out there who could be plugged in at not excessive cost. [I am not referring to Grady Sizemore or Travis Hafner. And everyone signed for those positions must be right handed. Perhaps Canzler takes one spot. Two to go.]
But the question is who will be pitching? At present we lack a No. 1 or No. 2 starter and have a plethora of Nos. 4 and 5. The only nearish term hope in the minors may be Danny Salazar who hasn't made it to Columbus yet. Top pitchers are expensive. Will Antonetti shell out for anyone?

I thought these things only happened under Manny Acta's watch. Sacriligious under Sandy Alomar

Why is it a dog and pony show ? They have 2 candidates. By next Friday they will have a new manager. How else do you do it ?

9-0 is the official "forfeit score."
Irony is not lost, as I gaze at our inept front office, still at the helm.
If Paul Dolan does not act fast and with fury, this franchise is doomed.
Any warm body is an improvement over Shapiro and/or Antonetti.

What's the hurry to hire a manager?
When does he start?
What's he going to do in the next few months?
If it's Francona, is he going to stay with ESPN until the playoffs are over?
Can't believe they would let a lame duck GM hire the manager so I guess we're stuck with the dynamic duo of Antonetti and the Red Perm.
Dolan had a chance to clean house but decided to go with what produced 68 wins and pocket the money.
That's the joke.

A penny for the Old Guy
We are the hollow team
We are the stuffed team
Leaning together
Bats filled with straw. Alas!
Our offense, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar
This is the way the season ends
This is the way the season ends
This is the way the season ends
Not with a bang but with a whimper.
T.S. Elliott, or however the heck he spelled his name, would be impressed.
I always paid attention to EE Cummings, but he could not tell a fast ball or a curve with regard to a necessary keyboard stroke to note his idea of the difference.
Perhaps, in retrospect, an apt note of Mark Shapiro and Chris Antonetti.

I sure hope the Giants win this game because I just can't stomach the thought of having to listen to any more of Joe Buck Baseball this season. Good lord he's awful.

Tigers lost the season series to the Tribe so they asked if they could borrow the Indians' bats.
