Props to Darren Clarke, great British Open! look folks this team the way it stands isn't going to win even the 80 games I predicted. 85 wins get the division most likely.
We need tow things to happen:
1) Carmona needs to be outstanding in the 2nd half. He pitches much better with a veteren behind the plate (ie Redmond). Go get a vet catcher and make him Carmona's personal catcher. You have to rest Santana anyway. Send Marson to AAA.
2) Make a deal for a bat NOW. We are coming up on a NINE gme home stand. That's over 10% of our entire home schedule. If we want to recoup the contract $$$ of the guy we trade for we need to do it NOW.
Even with that I still say this is about experience for our young kids this year. Get Kipnis up here and get White back into the rotation when he's healthy. Pick your poison out of MacAlister, Gomez and Huff and trade the other two. Dump Talbot. Burn out the bull pen except for C Perez and come Sept get Bryson, Hagadone, Judy, Stolwell, Miller, Chen up to Cleveland and see what they can do in mop up innings. Dump Durbin and send Hermann down to close for AAA.
The lack of a sense of urgency and a commitment to getting our kids penant race experience is mind boggling!!!

1022After 93 games, Pirates and the Indians have identical season records.

Really ? Who has actually made a trade ? K Rod does not count.

I've been busy, but I don't recall anyone here dissing the Tribe brass on their moves in the past several weeks. I know I haven't.
This is one of the most unusual trade deadline approach scenarios I recall in my fandom.
I'd applaud an attempt to find solutions within, as things are currently set on the trade front.
If I was going with a "wild hair," I'd toss something to get Wily Mo Pena. That guy has a burning fire to get back and might be one of the most affordable on the market.
He'd damn sure make the opposing team think of pitching around him every time he comes up with runners in scoring position.
More base runners are always good.
Edit: Oops, I missed Frank's last post.
Right now with the market and seemingly available talent, I still stay internal for solutions. Or with low price options with guys like Wily Mo.
Unless there is a super sweet deal for Beltran. Then I might be reaching for a 2011 blue chip.

1025Two games Monday, thanks to Gardenhire and the Minnesota guys manipulating that rain delay early in the season.
Let's make 'em pay tomorrow.

1026Tidbit from Pluto:
What happened to the pitching?
The Tribe has a 5.29 ERA in July, yet somehow are 7-7. They actually are scoring more runs lately. But they're giving up more. Lots more. And that's why they are in trouble.
In the 14 starts this month, only Justin Masterson (three times), Josh Tomlin (once) and Carlos Carrasco (once) have pitched at least six innings. The starters' ERAs for July: Masterson (1.96), Tomlin (5.00), Carrasco (9.00), and Mitch Talbot (13.50). Jeanmar Gomez and Zach McAllister have come up from the minors to start a pair of games, allowing seven runs in 9 1/3 innings.
All the early exits by the starters is putting strain on the bullpen, which is beginning to break down.
So yes, losing Sizemore hurts. And yes, they desperately need another hitter. But just as important, they must fix the starting pitching.

1028Tribe sent GOMEZ down to make room for Fausto.
Huff survives.
At least they made the decision based on performance.

1029BTW- Acta is saying that Carrera will get Gradys' starts in CF and that he might be moved to the leadoff spot in the batting order.

Re: General Discussion
1031What I just read says his contract is $800,000 which is only double the minimum but includes "$1,000,000 in incentives". Didn't find what they are, but I great way to save most if not all the $1M is to drop him now. Sounds like stinginess would say HE GOES, not that he stays.
That's about the level at which he has performed.$1,000,000.00 --- Can earn escalator bonus based on unknown performances.

1034Ryan Ludwick - OF - Padres
ESPN.com's Jim Bowden reports that the Indians are "working hard" on a deal for either Ryan Ludwick or Josh Willingham.
The Tribe desperately need help in the outfield with Shin-Soo Choo and now Grady Sizemore on the shelf. Both Ludwick and Willingham would be sensible adds and would lengthen the Tribe's lineup a bit as they try to hold off comers in the AL Central. Ludwick played parts of three seasons for the Indians back in the mid-2000's.

Over in the Browns forum Bingo needs help, he can no longer get into the Indians forum here. Anyone who can help? His last plea for help was in the General Discussion over there.
